Cedar Point will stay open into november next year

Featured Replies

Schedule just announced, they added a halloweekend the first weekend of November, that event really does well

It did so well this year because of GREAT WEATHER... If the weather turns cold & rainy like it has in past years, the midways will be EMPTY and they will be asking themselves why they extended the season. Hope for good weather!!

Lake, Ive been at Halloweekends on a Sat when the high was 25, low 5, and there was supposed to be snow (there wasn't.) The place was still packed (3+ hour headliners and Halloween lines, 2+ hour major coaster lines.) Halloweekends is a license to print money for CP.

Well, I've been there in the same conditions and I was the ONLY ONE on the midway. I was there the night they CLOSED the park early because of weather, I think it was 2 years ago. Weather has ALOT to do with attendence during halloweekends or any other time of the season.

I'd love it if Kings Island did this to, an extra dy into November :D

Anyone remember when they did have the park opened a weekend or two into November?

Ive been to halloweekends almost every year since it started, actually the first halloweekends was my first trip to the point, I think it was 96, it was dead that year, probably because a lot of people didn't know about it, every year since it has been packed the day I went. This year, an hour and 15 minute wait for the corkscrew, yikes

Likely you'll see the weekend added instead of Bare Bones Nights, although that is no indication of the success of Bare Bones.

More likely than not, the Bare Bones Nights may get moved to Wednesday and Thursday nights instead of Monday and Tuesday.

My guess is the only reason why they decided to start the Bare Bones is because of Knott's Scary Farm being open in the middle of the week (Wed. & Thurs.), along with Friday and Saturday nights.

There may even be a possibility of bringing back Sunday night Haunts like they did a few years back when FearFest was only on Saturday and Sunday (2004).

So CP has announced their calendar for 2008, and they open later then KI does, so when can we expect KI to announce their 2008 schedule?

I was trying to remember when they announced 2007's hours? I do know at this point last year we knew what day opening day was. It will probably be April 19th, unless they open a week earlier on April 12th. I would guess though they should be an announcement soon, probably after the first of the year.

Possibly sooner than that, depending on when they start hiring seasonals again. CP always starts the hiring process late-December into January, so they kinda have to know when they open in order to schedule peoples' process-in dates. KI will likely be finalizing things over the next week or two I would assume, as I'm sure they'll at least start the hiring process this month or next.

They should start the hiring process after the 1st of the year. They used to have re-hire processing like the second weekend in January. So your probably right.

Kindof interesting because Nov. 2 they are only open until 8 to finish off the season so I guess Holloweekends will really end on the 1st of november.

Actually gamesguy the indoor haunts are open at CP on Sunday. Unlike KI, CP's indoors open well before dark (early afternoon.)

I went to a Halloweekends this year and all I can say is if you stay at one of the hotels, use that 1 hour before the gates open to the public. The wait for Maverick was 3 1/2-4 hours. Same for everything else, it was hard to find a ride under 2 hours. Why not keep it open if you had the results like they did this year?! Its worth a try...

The park was only open late on Friday and Saturday nights anyway.

That was the one thing I hated about FearFest in 04, when they began to open the indoor mazes up in the afternoon. Rather than have big crowds come in around 6-7pm, they all begin to pile in right after lunch (usually around 2-3) and huddle together in Coney Mall.

CP being open in November is nothing new.

They did the same thing a few years ago.

And given how popular Halloweekends are, it is a no-brainer from a business standpoint.

  • 6 years later...

They're doing this at Carowinds too...

-Mer, who talks of nothing but Carowinds on a Kings Island message board.

You also speak of cats!

Because cats are awesome and will eventually take over the world!!! :)
