CoastersRZ
Hmm. I can definitely see Kennywood`s point if the tax was only being administered to them, and not other amusement entities that also likely charge and admission fee. For example, I would venture to say that most Halloween Fright Night attractions are going to charge a fee for guests to gain entry to the attraction. Golf courses would be under the same criteria. This concept of an admissions tax could soon have implications at Kings Island. Mason has been discussing imposing an admissions tax (which would apply to both Kings Island and The Beach), in order to help fund improving infrastructure in the vicinity of these two parks. However, the admissions tax has yet to be enacted by Mason city council, but discussions are continuing.
The Interpreter
I can't help but wonder how Kennywood's acquisition by a Spanish company will affect this litigation....technically, it shouldn't at all...but it may well still. . . Browntggrr
So what would West Mifflin do if Kennywood no longer existed? I have a difficult time believing that Kennywood does not already pay out an exorbitant amount of taxes for property, school, and payroll, as well as utility costs; and West Mifflin wants to take even more? What a joke. Now add that with Kennywood being the only entity to pay this tax, and it is insulting to the park. For all of those people that wondered why is is difficult for a family owned park to survive need only to look at this situation.
Browntggrr
http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=...82121&rfi=6 If only Kennywood was being taxed, why give it such a general name like "amusement tax". Name it what it really is. The Kennywood Tax.
