Since Cedar Fair has closed the rides at geauga lake, has the geauga lake hotel been closed or will it stay open?

No, that is not the hotel he is referring to. Back when Six Flags owned the park, they also owned a hotel (two story white building I believe). I also seem to remember that Cedar Fair inherited this hotel when the purchased GL from Six Flags. I`m not sure what the fate of the hotel was or is, now that GL is going to a water park only property.

Last year it was mostly used for employee housing along with the cabins at the campground.
