Sandusky ranks top 50 destinations

Was Mason on there?

900th. post!

Nope, here is a quote from the article in the Sandusky Register

"There are other areas of Ohio that are competing with us, like the Kings Island area, but they don't have the lake. Cleveland has the lake, but they don't have the amusement park and the islands. This is the only place in Ohio where you have all of it -- where you have history and culture, you have the wineries, you have family attractions, you have outdoor natural areas," Bauer said.

How can Mason not place? Kings Island? Great Wolf Lodge? The Beach Water Park? Alverta Green Museum? Lebanon Mason Montgomery Railroad? The Golf Center at Kings Island?

Heck, Mason has plenty! And there are a plethora of nearby attractions in adjacent Lebanon and Valley Vineyards in Morrow.

^Chef, while the Cincinnati area as a whole may be a larger tourist destination than Sandusky, there is no question that Kings Island pales in comparison to Cedar Point in terms of it being a resort and tourist destination.

If you look at the list, it's not simply resort type areas.

Many of the places cited are simply the actual cities and things to see in those cities.

While the list states that CP is the biggest draw for the Sandusky area, there are many other things close to Sandusky that have nothing to do with the park, or any park for that matter.

The Lake Erie Islands are a HUGE draw (Put-in-Bay being the main island draw) from Canada, Cleveland, Detroit as well as all the ports along the Detroit river, Lake St. Clair and Lake Huron. The fishing (walleye & perch) in the area is one of the best (if not the best) on the Great Lakes.

There really is much more to do in the Sandusky area than the Mason area.

You are right about everything there is to do around the Sandusky area. But since I live here and have done everything about 100 times, I would rather goto the Mason Area and Kings Island.
