K.I. Today

In case people tend to notice, I have had many more responses over the last couple of days than usual. The reason for this is that I am enjoying my current freedom of having a week here in Ohio.

Today I took a little journey up and down I-71, leading me 1st to The Cincinnati Zoo, where I had lunch with a couple of friends and discussed some topics.

Secondly, I again took a little stroll down I-71, this time leading me to Kings Island. My goal here was to surprise a good friend of mine, and take this person out to dinner.

I thought that I would be able to approach the K.I. Human Resources department, and simply have them make a phone call within the park, to get this person's attention. As far as this assumption, I can only say that I could not have been any more wrong.

First, a delightful chap attempted to make the call, but ultimately did not know the number. At this point, I did not want to take up their time, so I politely told the man, not to worry about it. He insisted, and involved another person, and another person, until I was so embarrased for asking the question that all that I wanted to do was just leave the room. But politely, I stayed.

I tried to keep a smile, but out of 3 people, not one of them seemed capable of finding a simple phone number within the park. Don't get me wrong, they tried, but ultimately, I found the number simply by looking across the room at a phone directory on the wall, behind their counter. By then, I was so embarrased, because I felt as though I had just wasted the salary and time of 3 people, after I had told the man not to worry about it.

I am not trying to be cruel. But this same man, was giving out phone numbers to other associates in front of me, saying that he could not help them, but to call the number he was giving them. Come on, they are physically at the park. If you cannot help them there, how is a phone call going to do it? And there was a girl in front of me. I don't know what position she had applied for, but her argument was that she had been contacting the park for about a month to find out her application status, without success, and she was told that the position that she had applied for had already been filled. Could they not have called to let her know? Or brought her in for an interview about a month ago?

Finally, when I first walked into the building, the "CLOSED" sign was hanging on an "OPEN" building.

I do not usually attack the park. But if I were a Cedar Fair rep. seeing all of this in less than half an hours time, I think that (to be fair, and professional ) I would be very concerned about what I am not seeing.

hoping for a good 08" season
