Browntggrr
Someone needs to ask Mr. Thomas if CP used the title: "Operating roller coaster capital of the world”, if he would object. “When it comes to being the coaster capital of the world, it’s measured in thrill quality, not ride quantity,” said Magic Mountain President Jay Thomas. “At Magic Mountain, thrill seekers are fond of saying that they look at the competition and ask ‘Where’s the beef?’ That’s the standard by which we operate. Always pushing to distance ourselves from other coaster parks.” He obviously made this quote thinking enthusiasts don't know how to read. The Interpreter
That's some of the thrill seekers at Magic Mountain who haven't been anywhere else...not unlike some of the Cedar Point thrill seekers who haven't been anywhere else...or some of the Kings Island thrill seekers who haven't been anywhere else. When your base for comparison is small, many think what they have is far superior to what others have. Conversely, others think anywhere else would be better (aka 'Familiarity breeds contempt...the grass is always greener, etc.) That all being said, I cannot imagine this Six Flags ever making a credible run towards any of its parks being The Coaster Capital of the World again. And a year or two from now, after investors see the results, I suspect it may be the same over Sandusky way.
raptor
I've never been to Magic Mountain, I've only seen it in the movies aka "Wally World" and "Kiss Meets The Phantom" but I have a hard time believing that the quality of their coasters matches up to the quality of Cedar Point's Coasters, by the way isn't Planet Snoopy going to have a New (new but old that is) kids coaster bring the total to 18? This would be an excellent reason (yeah I know it will never happen) for Cedar Fair to move The Big Dipper to Cedar Point, wouldn't be cool to see something like that somewhere on the beach, where people with stamped hands can ride, that would be cool
Touchdown
No the GL kiddie coaster is going up for auction, not to CP.

I.E.- I really enjoy Apollo's Chariot at BGE, while some do not. It's no big deal, just a difference of opinions. But what strikes me about the comments Mr. Thomas made, he makes it sound that SFMM not only has better quality coasters, but fails to understand that a quality coaster has to actually operate to be enjoyed. SFMM has had a very difficult time keeping their coasters running consistantly. They may have turned the corner on X by adding the new trains, but that has not been proven yet. And Colossus (a racing coaster) never races anymore.
FOFirehawkFAN
I dont know if there are that many people here that like MM but I just wanna say when I went last summer I was VERY disapointed. Yeah the coasters were awesome and first class rides but I just got the impression no one gave a crap about the park, it was dirty and just had a "blah" vibe about it. So no matter how many coasters are built unless they are kept up nicely and have a little bit better landscaping than parking lot lines i don't think it should be the roller coaster capital. Touchdown
Besides CP daily operations still kicking the crap out of your average SF park (and SFMM is supposed to be below avg in that scale) I would be shocked if their line up aproached the quality of CP, Magnum, MF, and Raptor are in my top ten list, and TTD and Maverick in the top 25. I doubt any of their rides would place in my top ten (from accounts I have read) and suspect that only Tatsu, X, and B:TR (well I know B:TR would join its brothers in the top 25) could place in the top 25. Besides if/when Im in SoCal, Disneyland, Knotts, and Universal will be calling me much louder then SFMM.
Beast1979
I'm afraid SFMM may become my new home park someday (don't ask why), but if things trun out right I'll never have to live there. Either way, Cedar Point deserves the title. No contest.
Touchdown
Easy solution, Beast, Disneyland, Knotts and Universal. Cant go wrong with those three, they have everything you need.
