Avatar
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/or...0,2338663.story Looking for a magical martini? Disney chain's cocktail bars capture prize as nation's best Scott Powers | Sentinel Staff Writer April 8, 2008 Mickey Mouse is getting a reputation for mixing great cocktails. Walt Disney World runs America's best chain of cocktail bars, according to Cheers magazine, which also called Walt Disney World's signature libation a "dream-like" martini. The trade magazine for full-service restaurants and bars said the company's usual attention to themed detail and operational efficiency has made the resort the nation's "Best Chain Overall Beverage Program." Disney's "Blue 'Glow-Tini'," won the magazine's "Best Chain Signature Drink" prize. Cheers touts its annual awards as the industry's top honors. Winners were selected by peer judges, and prizes were presented in late January, though Disney World waited until late last week to note its wins. Cheers writes that Disney's cocktail business "delivers a little Disney magic in every glass." In this case the magic is not produced by pixie dust, Disney said in its press release. The resort overhauled its alcoholic drinks and standardized its cocktail menu in late 2006 as part of the "Year of a Million Dreams" promotion. "That joy and fun carries over to our beverage menu," said spokeswoman Andrea Finger. Well heres to Disney, oh wait which drink should I drink cheers with their featured drink the very strong Hawaiian drink in the coconut or my favorite Lapu lapu served in a fresh hollowed out pineapple. The Interpreter
I often wonder what Walt would think of things like this and of Downtown Disney...then I hear this small voice in my head saying: "If it makes money and is worthy of the Disney brand name, it's fine...." I just know he would say that.
Avatar
Well the fact that they did not rush right out and celebrate the honor with an announcement speaks volumes; I think this is an honor they would rather celebrate with little fanfare. I do think that Walt would be glad to see them being imaginative and being the best at it. Also Walt did approve of club 33 in Disneyland. Well if you have wondered what the imaginers have been considering to attract more business to Downtown Disney then read the article in the link. You won’t be sorry! http://www.mouseextra.com/2008/04/01/rumor...a-turn/#respond
WooferBearATL
Oh, I'm certain it's being touted in many of the lounges. It's something to be very proud of.

WooferBearATL
Cheers Magazine “We received 110 entries from 47 restaurant chains, a record, and all of them were impressive for their creativity, innovation and impact on sales,” said Cheers Editor Donna Hood Crecca. The awards program is open to all chain restaurants, defined as an operation with five or more locations in two or more markets. The chain must be in existence for at least three years. The criteria for these awards are the program’s creativity, originality and impact on the sales and profitability of a full-service restaurant operation. Other factors considered are the level of marketing support, staff training and overall operator commitment to the initiative that lead to its success. The entries were evaluated by a judging panel that included previous Cheers Awards for Beverage Excellence winners and other leading operators. CoastersRZ
I should rephrase my statement from above. The link to the article that Avatar posted in his second post (not the first post in this thread) is the article I am referring to with the suspect date.
