This is my first trip report so bear with me...

Attended company day for Cincinnati Financial Corporation today. A couple of notes on today's events:

-Major construction going on where swan lake used to be.

-The Crypt was not open today at all just a sign that read that it was temporarily out of service. I was really looking forward to seeing the new theming. I wouldn't expect it to be open on the 20th.

-Rode Firehawk for the first time...unbelieveable. I went back and rode it again before leaving.

-Saw the country western show in the Festhaus, looked ok, definately better than anything Paramount put together.

-Staff is wearing the CF colors. I believe rides is in red, ecology is in yellow

-Probably the most noticable change other than the construction was the signs of the rides. AE especially jumped out at me. All of the signs have been given a nice facelift and new paint. I have to say they look great.

- Park was kept very clean, even though the crowds in the park were on the light side.

-Rides are ridiculously staffed as most CF parks are. AE - 4 bar checkers, Firehawk - 6 per side, Beast - 6

-Racer- Rode the new Red Racer a suprisingly smooth ride

-Beast - Rode in the last seat, a little bumpy, but was running nice and fast...sorry guys the brakes are still there

-BLST - Sporting a new bilboard with the new name on it as well as an automatic exit gate

-FOF - the entire ride was in complete darkness, couldn't even see my hand in front of my face

-Drop Tower - No rotation going up, but still a good ride

-Invertigo - New sign looks good

-Viking Fury - Sporting a fresh touchup paint job

-Vortex - Nothing has changed.

Overall the park appears to taken care of, it doesn't have that run down image that we have seen in past years. This is my first trip since leaving the park in August of 2006, and I am looking forward to going again in the summer sometime.

Let me know if you have any questions about anything else

What I dont uderstand is how Paramount is a movie company and make all these movies, but cant make a good show for KI.Its not even that big of a deal

Paramount Studios owned KI about a year, and then was acquired. Under Viacom, the parks were shuffled from division to division, including, of all things, Blockbuster. I still think that if Paramount Communications had not been sold to VIACOM, the future (now past) of Kings Island would have been every different indeed.

All that seems to be very refreshing.

From the photos that Ronny took, it seems that CF has taken and prepared the park much better than Paramount ever did.

It's a Brand New World.

How was SoB running today? Anything else closed beside The Crypt?

Sorry I didn't get any pictures but it looks like Gordon Bombay got some good pics in his post of the key items.

SOB was running the entire day, no downtime from what I heard.

Firehawk was down for a little while around 4:00

Delirium was down a few times, but not for more than 30 mins at a time.

BLST had a roll back around 10:30 and was back open by noon (probably earlier but I didn't pass by until noonish)

The train was...RUNNING!? But, but, but...Boomerang Bay isn't open! I thought the train's only purpose was to transport people to/from the waterpark!?

I suppose you could look at the train operating a couple different ways:

- KI considered Saturday to be the dry run day so everything ran.

-or-

- KI is making sure all rides operate as much as possible. This puts to rest the fear that they will not run both sides of Racer more often than not.

Hopefully things will stay like this the rest of the year. Time will tell.
