Pagoda Gift Shop
Went to the park around 3:15. It was nice weather and pretty busy. Avatar and The Crypt were listed as closed on the screen outside the entrance. I'd say waits for the major rides were around 1 hour during the peak time of day (before 6pm). There were no wait time signs at any ride entrance. What's up with that? We rode Racer, Adventure Express, the Carousel, Eiffel Tower, Beast, and Scooby Doo twice with no wait after 7pm. Avatar was running around 7:30pm. Hopes for the future ----------------------- Remove the queue TVs. You can't see them. Half of them don't work or are discolored. Remove the queue rails in the center of The Racer queue. Now that there is no reason to split the lines, open up the station, move the front seat queues out onto the ramp area. Questions ----------- No ride wait signs? Why is Firehawk's paint looking so chippy less than a year after it opened? Are there no carousel's in Ohio that use the original sound unit? I thought KI's used it, but apparently not. I know the ones at CP and the Columbus Zoo also use piped in music. Overall, it was a good first visit. masonguy21
Haha the TVs have always looked crappy and you can hardly see the screen but I doubt if they will take them out. But my thoughts on Firehawks paint is that probably because they painted directly over another coat of paint from x-flight that it didn't adhere to the ride as well as t would have if it were a new ride. Also KI has never really used ride wait time signs, your best bet is to ask an attendant at the line entrance, that is if there is one. corn4ahead
KI has never had wait time signs like CP.
BoddaH1994
Not in the same fashion as CP, but they did have the old "The wait for ______ is approximately _____ from this point" signs.
PKIVortex
Not true KI used to have signs that used to list the wait times. Vortex, Racer, The Beast, Top Gun, King Cobra, Face/Off, even FoF used to have them.
Erosarrow05
funny you should say that... I happen to have an original sign from tomb raider that states "the wait from this point is"...
PKIVortex
Even SOB had them in it's first few years. I actually saw The Racer wait sign sitting behind Subway on opening day. It's the red one that says The Wait for The Racer is approximately 45 minutes from this point.
BoddaH1994
Were the signs changeable like Cedar Points? I remember the stationary signs... like the one that said Top Gun was something like 2 hours from the entrance, and I know Flight of Fear had a sign saying something like "It will be approximately one hour until we have you under our control." However, neither of these signs could be altered.
PKIVortex
No they were not changeable, but it would still be nice if they used these signs. Vortex used to have 2 of them. 1 hour from this point and 30 minutes from this point. Of course Vortex unless on really busy days don't reach an hour line anymore. markr
The signs at KI have never been changeable like CP''s. I have always found the signs and the ride attendant's estimation unreliable. Usually they overestimate the waits. For example, at Firehawk, I timed the wait from the entrance to getting on the ride at approximately 1 1/4 hrs when the sign said two hours. The Beast sign usually overestimated the wait by about a half hour as did The Vortex sign.
fan of beast
i remember the 2 hr wait sign when The Beast opened in '79. it's hard to believe i was in high school then. i don't remember seeing any signs in recent times.
PKIVortex
The last time I even remember seeing the 1hr wait sign for Vortex was back in 2001 when I was apart of Vortex's Crew.
Monroe
As for the music on the Carousel, the Band organ has not worked for several years and parts I think have been removed. The Band organ is actually older than the Carousel, it would be nice to see it fixed. See this thread for more info, and maybe the Coney Island thread since it came from Coney. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...=Carousel+music
italianchef
Sorry that you couldn't ride THE CRYPT. I haven't had a chance to ride it yet either.
