chewy x Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 I was wondering, were the trams went. I mean at the front of the park there is not even a place for tram drop off. One of my friends said that is was because of gas prices. But I don't think that to be true but hay what do I know I work in food! That parking lot is HUGE. Think about if you come into the season pass enterce at BB, then BB closes, you go into the main park and at the end of the night you have to walk ALL THE WAY back to were your car is parked. That is one hell of a walk and with your kids and all your ****, I mean come on now! I don't really think it would be that safe either. I was just wondering. Quote
CoastersRZ Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 The tram circle was removed for the 2005 season as a way to "free up more space" outside the main entrance. Then for the 2006 season, the old ticket booths were removed, freeing up even more space. I have to admit, that the front entrance is a lot nicer now then when the old ticket booths were there. 2005 was also the year, that they planted trees in the parking lot. Quote
standbyme Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 When I was a kid WAY back in the day my family would ride the trams...now that I am grown up I wonder why. The parking lot does not really seem that big. Compared to how much walking a person will be doing once they are in the park, the walk into the park seems like nothing. I think standing and waiting for a tram to pick you up is more hassle & time consuming than it is worth. Back when the campground still existed it was not unusual for us to just walk back to it instead of waiting around for over 15 minutes for the tram. (Every now and then when we are staying at the Kings Island Resort we will even walk to the park from there if the mood hits us...even though they have their own shuttle bus.) We Americans are too spoiled! (Yes, me too.) Quote
MarketingExpress Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Some of the tram cars were still on the property in 2006, not sure if they are still there now. Quote
Thrill_Biscuit Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 I remember when they had the old "Sohio" signs on top of them. I kinda miss them, but the walk isn't really as long as it seems from much of the lot. Quote
iChase Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Some of the tram cars were still on the property in 2006, not sure if they are still there now. Actually, I think saw them sitting close to the greenhouses off the lift hill of Flight Deck the other day. Quote
MarketingExpress Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Actually, I think saw them sitting close to the greenhouses off the lift hill of Flight Deck the other day. Sounds like they haven't moved them. Quote
iChase Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 That what I was thinking. They've been there awhile. Quote
IheartKI Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 I think I saw the trams the other day from the SOB hill! As a pediatrician, I don't think it's such a bad idea that they got rid of the trams. For some kids that visit the park, walking is about the only exercise they get, and if it means that they have to walk an extra 5 minutes to get to the entrance, rather than riding the tram, then it's not so bad. chewy x Posted May 20, 2008 Author Posted May 20, 2008 Thanks for telling me were the trams went. I mean I still think that all the way back to the BB water park entrance is a very long and dark walk at night, But hay whatever! It could be very unsafe as well, depending on the way you go. I mean at night in the main lot with all the cars cutting across the lot and down the employ road, they speed like a bat out of hell, to get out of there at night. I say they because I have a scooter,so I really can't speed and I don't drive a car. So when my girlfriend and I ride together we get out of there so darn late, it really doesn't matter what we do. On a side note I love to toucher 3 shift security, it is so much FUN!!!! Quote

OK, so it's not fair to make someone wait an extra train while someone in a wheelchair boards a ride but it is fair to make someone walk from overflow parking? Quote

And, I still stand by what I said...on both topics Thanks! Bottom line is, probably if they still had the trams, KI would charge $15 to park instead of the $10 they do now. Quote
The Interpreter Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 And you know this how exactly? What would they charge if they actually repaved the parking lot or at least filled in the holes??? Quote
Guest TombraiderTy Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 If/when the park turns into a full resort, I'd like to see a monorail with stations at these locations: -Entrance/Parking Garage -Boomerang Bay -Cedar Fair City (Downtown Disney like area) -Great Wolf Lodge (I know this will not happen, I'm just stating what I'd like to happen.) -Cedar Fair's NEW resort Quote
iChase Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 That would be awesome, but I can't see it happening. KI just isn't a resort park. It should be. But it's not. Quote

FrankNfreak Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 I suffer from plantir faciitis...and my wife is recovering from surgery for it...the trams would be nice. A monorail system would be quite expensive..but they could use the Miami Valley Railroad to circle the entire park with drop offs in every location of the park...the Magic Kingdom does this. Quote
