NOTIFY PARK SECURITY

after reading all of these posts I am rather concerned about the real safety of the park - this is not because of the current security people around but it seems like they need more. Isn't it sad that people can not be expected to conduct themselves as adults?? Use their manners?? Maybe if they started to EJECT line jumpers that would at least reduce to a workable level.

As for teh smokers do you realize that some people are allergic to the smoke? Smoking makes me very ill and thought I do not feel your rights should be restricted I would like my rights as well. Unfortunately most smokers think it is funny to blow their smoke in your face. If smokers blow their smoke out into the air I am not bothered but often they think it cute to blow it in nonsmoker's faces. Again theat manners factor.

Seems to me if parents taught their children those simple manners lessons a lot of this would not be an issue.

Whatever happened to being responsible for our own actions?

I agree with much of what you say, but do not find that MOST smokers enjoy blowing smoke in non-smokers' faces. I'd say it is very, very few. And those who do ought to be dealt with harshly...there is an argument that it is assault, but regardless, they are rude, obnoxious and inconsiderate. If everyone was polite and considerate of others, there would be little to no need for law enforcement, lawyers and even social workers. But such is not the case. I have often been told by proud Kings Island marketing people that at one time, Kings Island had more security people per million park visitors than any other park in America. I doubt that is true any more.

Any smoker who blows their smoke in someone else's face deserves to live in a 2x2 box. That is just rude and inexcusable behavior.

Responsibility went out the window years ago and it keeps getting worse. It makes me sick to see people not have respect for others and not take responsibility for their own actions. Really makes me want to resign from the human race.

Another park chain had serious guest misconduct problems. They dedicated large amounts of money to security, came up with new guest policies, enforced them uniformly and strongly, and no longer have the problems they once did. Some problems? Yes, certainly, but its parks are far cleaner, nicer and less unruly than ever before. Cedar Fair needs to study and think about that. They seem to understand the importance of park cleanliness better than anyone else in the business, but security? It seems less so...

These problems can only be solved when top management makes them a priority...as opposed to walking through the parks completely ignoring smokers outside designated areas, as I have personally seen the top two people in the Cedar Fair chain do on more than one occasion in more than one park...These things are either important to them, or they are not. And by their actions, they have shown us which it is...for now, at least.

Ok Mark has done that, why not dedicate some money to the living conditons of the animals in the Discovery Kingdom park then? :P

Alot of those facilites are disgusting, makes the Miami Seaquarium look like heaven having Tokitae the killer whale in a swimming pool, at least she is swimming around in clean water.

That's a good picture, despite the algea. Now at times you cant even see her cause the algea covers her viewing glass. Lots of dirt, some food, and some other really gross things. The bottom of the other two resting tanks are very gross where she is kept at.

All of the observation glass of just about every animal facility is clouded up with water stains, hand/finger prints, and more stuff. Employees have the time to clean everything in the park, like the glass but i guess its not really assigned to anybody specifically, so nobody does anything about it.

Theres cob/spider webs in just about every corner of the park, Is it so hard to clean them?

^ That's pretty upsetting. It makes me sick to know that there are animals living in conditions like that. I wish people would take some initiative and just clean, even if it isn't their assigned duty. After all, they DO work at the park, they're assigned to the whole park wether or not they like it or know it.

If there is one thing that you can say about California, it is a regulated state in most every way.

Certainly there is some regulatory agency that has and is monitoring animal control.

Sooooo, the photo may be deceiving in that it may be an appropriate environment for the whale.

I agree. It needs to be a priority and now. I am personally very tired of the riff raff that is there only to cause trouble-because they know they can get away with it. The environment of the park is being ruined by this behavior.

I saw a picture of a security guard with a gun. Does any of them carry guns? if they do, do they have arrest powers. what is the level of training.

i am concerned because i will be bringing children to the park and i want to know how well trained the security is ..i worked in le awhile ago so i know what's good training and what is not.

^The park does have it's own police force, staffed with actual police officers. Those are the ones that you see with guns. Some work for area police departments and do this as a second job, some work solely for KI. Most of the security guards are not police officers but do go through training, but I can't speak as to what that training is exactly since I've never gone through it myself. Those guards, of course, are not certified to carry firearms. They also have police officers from Mason PD at the park often.

Overall KI is a safe environment and I would not worry about bringing your kids there. I've never had a problem as a guest, and in the 16 years I worked at the park I worked closely with security and park police often and am confident in their abilites.
