May 27, 200818 yr So I"ve noticed since I've visted the park this year, that the park is a lot more cleaner than it has in the past. What do you think? I belive that King's Island has steped it up and really taken cleaning serious. Everywhere I look there is someone in yellow doing their job. Good job KI.
May 27, 200818 yr KI has been much cleaner since it got bought out by CF, but KI has never been dirty. The only park that ive seen be dirty is Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom.

Cedar Fair is known for its very clean parks and many, many trash cans. These two things are not unrelated. A guest who has to walk too far to a trash can is all too frequently a guest who can't be bothered to do so.
May 27, 200818 yr My other question is, would it be golden ticket material? The Golden Ticket thing is really political. I wouldn't doubt that KI would be recognized for being a clean park some time in the near future, but going from zero to hero rarely happens with that voting group.

Anyone notice less talk about the "Golden Ticket" popularity contest, since CF took over?
May 27, 200818 yr If by less talk you mean the big canvas over the front gate showcasing the park's Amusement Today Golden Ticket Awards for kids area.
May 27, 200818 yr If by less talk you mean the big canvas over the front gate showcasing the park's Amusement Today Golden Ticket Awards for kids area. No, in general. Seemed like under Paramount it was Golden Ticket this and Golden Ticket that. I personally think that it's refreshing.
May 27, 200818 yr KI is very clean. Most guests are 'pitching in'. There will always be those few rude people who will just hurl their trash into the grass, fountains, ponds, etc., but the yellow crew is right on it!

Many people travel long distances to go to parks as a result of the Golden Ticket awards. It's a great marketing tool, but not exactly scientific data.

May 27, 200818 yr And CF plays it up just as much, if not more than Paramount did. Especially with Cedar Point being named #1 park by Amusement Today.
May 28, 200818 yr It's not a super dirty park, but it's not a Golden Park either, try standing in lines waiting for a ride and when you have nothing to do but look around, you can see the garbage sitting there. I was standing in line at Lazy town Copters and Fairly Odd Coaster this weekend with the kids and looking along side where you have to wait, I noticed lots of garbage. They can't just patrol where people walk, they have to go off the beaten path to make it better. On Friday night we noticed a toddlers baseball hat on a post at Scooby Doo, on Sunday the same hat was still there! I was under the impression last season when we lost something, the person in the lost and found window told us when the park closed they did a walk through to pickup lost items? Doesn't appear to happen anymore.
May 29, 200818 yr Many people travel long distances to go to parks as a result of the Golden Ticket awards. It's a great marketing tool, but not exactly scientific data. I'd be interested in seeing statistics on that. I'm a little surprised you didn't have access to that data back when you were serving food at the park.

No, to the best of my knowledge, there was no Golden Ticket award at that time. From their website, it appears that Amusement Today was formed in 1997. So presumably, the Golden Ticket Beauty Contest was formed after the magazine's start date. Now back to the statistics. Do you have them available Boddah?
May 29, 200818 yr Amusement Today started after the debacle that was Inside Track, which gave out similar 'awards.' Inside Track had first become very sporadic in its issuance, then left subscribers and advertisers holding the bag as the publisher not so quietly faded away... Not too many years later, the long time industry trade, Amusement Business, first dropped down to monthly from weekly, then folded the tent.
May 29, 200818 yr clean park!?!?!? someone should talk to the yellow shirts about that mud pile between Stunt Track and "the mystery".... they've got mud everywhere. you'd think they're building something.
June 7, 200818 yr I think the park paths have been pretty clean, but I've never really looked at them. So I guess they are clean if I don't notice if they're dirty. Point Blank: If they were dirty, I would notice the dirt, and I haven't so I say they are clean
June 8, 200818 yr The park's clean. Cedar Fair takes good care of Ki. The only thing they need to inforce is smoking in undesignated areas.

Well its not their fault it rains and then do some construction the next day.The machines track mud.Anyway, the park seems cleaner than other years.I saw them sweeping up mulch in Nick-U.
