Jasper
Ok well we go to the park around 11 ish and when we went it there was an insane amount of people in the park. I was really surprised to see this due to it being a Tuesday. Anyways even for having a crowded park the longest wait of the day was for Firehawk and it was about an hour wait. Well worth it though. Go to ride everything at least once and some things twice. As for my new experiences go. My first one was riding The Slingshot. I decided to ride this with a member from our group because it was the only thing i had not done yet and it looked like fun. Well when i got up there i was getting a lil nervous. But when i got in and we tilted back all that went away and i started to enjoy myself. The first launch was amazing and when we got to the top it was weird looking down on SOB and it looking actually small. I still dont know which is better though X-Streme Skyflyer or Sling Shot. Ok onto my next experience. We wanted to ride The Beast last so we got in line at about 9 40. Well when we got to the top and saw all the turnstials open we were going to turn back but decided not to. They came over the speaker and told us they would suspend operation at 9 45 to view the fireworks. Well the fireworks went off and due to people not wanting to move we did not get to see them unfortunately. After this they still would not start the ride and the crowd waiting in line was getting impatient but when the op came over the loud speaker and said The Beast is now open everyone went CRAZY!!! We rode The Beast in the very back and i must say that at night nothing compares to the awesomeness of The Beast. The ride was absolutely amazing. And after an hour wait it was well worth it. It was strange to see everyone coming off not complaining about waiting in line but coming off running and smiling. Truly 2 great experiences only to be found at Kings Island, Where Else? King Maple The Tree King
Glad to hear you had such a good time Jasper! Speaking of new experiences, what did you think of The Crypt and the turned around Racer? Is it just me, or does that Beast fireworks thing seem really goofy? They started doing that last season I believe. Why would you take (what seems to be) the most popular attraction at night and make it temporarily stop when in the past the ride used to run with the fireworks going, like all the other rides. Now I believe they moved the fireworks launch area when they added Firehawk, but still, why move it to interfere with The Beast? They do notify guests over the loud speaker but couldn't they at least have a sign up or something in the park map about it? Seems like a really poor plan to me. teenageninja
The new launch off area is near Beast. If you look at KIs layout there is not really anywhere they could shoot off fireworks without the threat of burning one of the wooden coasters. This was probably the best decision, plus it allows people to ride later, which in my opinion is never a bad thing.
dare-to-fly
plus it allows people to ride later, which in my opinion is never a bad thing. Agreed! I usually time it so that I have to wait for it. That way, I'm guaranteed a night ride. I was also there on 7/1. Talk about PACKED. I don't know what the heck was going on for a Tuesday to be that crowded, but yet I still had an awesome time. All of the wooden coasters seemed to be running very well, which I'm sure was due to the temp, lack of humidity, and full trains. The Racer was even running very well still despite the trim brake. They evened out Red and Blue in the same fashion that I knew they would. They dialed back the trim on Red and increased the trim on Blue. I miss Blue the way it was already, but with full trains, it had enough weight to get through it and still have some airtime yesterday. flightoffear1996
The fireworks issuse is dumb. Why dont they just close all rides all the time and we wouldn't have to worry about it.
Jasper
Maple this was my third visit of the season so i think the crypt is not worth a 5 minute wait and The Racers will always be The Racers and be one of my favorite coasters.
I_heart_pki
The Beast at night is a great experience!! One night When I went to ride it at night it was 9:40 and the ride op said that they were only running two more trains and that you were allowed to wait but might not get to ride. I think it would be easier if they closed the ride at a certain time and then all those already in line should have a chance to ride. I've only rode The Beast once after the fireworks and want to do it again very very soon!!
The Interpreter
The fireworks issuse is dumb. Why dont they just close all rides all the time and we wouldn't have to worry about it. Be careful what you wish for. This was indeed the solution to many problems at the dry side of Aurora, Ohio.
