Busch Gardens Africa

Featured Replies

Hi all!

First off, thank you for all the tips for Cedar Point, I had a blast and you can read my PTR here.

Now, since June 28 I have been residing in Cocoa Beach Florida. And any coaster freak can not overlook the quantity and quality of any Florida park, but only a more experienced enthusiast would know that Busch Gardens Africa is the best.

So far, though, our family has spent thousands of dollars, so When I brought up BGA they were not satisfied, so please bear in mind this trip is a HUGE MAYBE.

I MAY be taking a trip to BGA, and if so It will be for One Day This Wednesday.

Are there any tips, suggestions, or tid-bits of advice? Anything would be helpful.

Have a nice day,

Coasterkidman

DO NOT skip SheiKra. It's the best ride experience ever. Kumba can be a tad rough in spots, so you may want to stick your head out between the restraints. Montu is great, very very well themed and very smooth. Gwazi... Let's just say this. If you dont care about coaster credits, don't ride it. It's very rough. Scorpion is an all around fun ride. Cheetah Chase will make your stomach hurt, not sick, but it will hurt. Don't miss out on the animal displays either. Those are very fun just to walk through. If your thirteen, ride the zipline in Jungala. It's not that fun, but they allow cameras on the ride and you can get some amazing pictures. The skyride is another ride that's great to take pictures on!

Have fun and remember to post a trip report!

BGA is a great park.

It is more of a thrill park themed to animals, but definately something that I would not miss if I was down in that area of Florida.

Most of the coasters BGA has are all really good. And, being a Busch park, the atmosphere is among the best of any park.

What are their issues with BGA?

Probably that they're expensive, which I must admit, they are. I believe, though, that if you buy your tickets online, that they're cheaper

The fact that we've spent thousands upon thousands of dollars already, and the fact it's 2 hours away, My parents aren't to enthusiastic.

Well, BGA has something for absolutely everyone in the family. The coasters and rides, yes, are amazing. But a huge part of it is the atmosphere and entertainment.

Any time I'm within a couple hours of Tampa, I do not miss BGA.

If it's the money, don't pressure your parents.

You have been to KI and CP, and are now in Florida. I'd say you have had a pretty good summer already! :)

I agree! Go enjoy Cocoa Beach! Ride some waves! I just got back from Daytona and had a great week with no coasters. I would definitely go for some miniature golf and go karts if I were you!

Ahhhh, mini golf is the best! And Florida has some great chains.

Inexpensive and a blast to do with friends or family.

The key is, ya really don't have to spend much money to have a good time.

Would you believe that we only blew $300.00 in 8 days? No joke! Granted, we had a kitchen and ate in our room most evenings. People were tellling me that I needed at least $500.00 to have a good time. They were WRONG!

The thing that is great about Florida is that you can often eat very inexpensively. You can go to a restaurant and get fresh catch and not spend a fortune. Stay away from the chain restaurants and hit the early bird specials and it really stretches your funds.

Myself, I'm partial to the Gulf Coast, but Daytona - Ft. Lauderdale and Key West can also be great locations.

That alone is HUGE!

I went to PIB for a weekend last year with 6 friends for a bachelor party.

We rented a cottage for $1200 for the weekend, and the cottage had a full kitchen with 2 outside grills.

Needless to say, it was cheaper than the normal hotel room due to the kitchen and we brought all our own food.

Cost aside, go to BGA, truly a great park. I will say besides the great coasters, which I enjoy all of them, especially Montu and Sheikra, you must eat at the Crown Colony Reserve. Grab a window seat, enjoy a nice sit down meal and look out on the beatufil Serengetti, if at this point you dont think you are in the hear of Africa than I don't know what to say. Thats my one not to miss attration at the park

You hit on it!

I've loved the Crown Colony for years.

The food is actually really good and the surroundings are amazing!

^well unfortunately I am not a Florida Resident ( :( ), so we would if we went, have to pay full admission.

I heard about the Busch Gardens Flash Pass. Yes or No?

Flash passes are Six Flags things....perhaps you mean the platinum passes good at all Busch parks? Or the play pass for Florida residents? What are you talking about?

Well, if the pricing is like Dollywood's and the park isn't empty and money is not an issue, go for it. If the pricing is like Six Flags and you really, really want to irk your parents, after they agree to take you to the park, get inside and whine for an expensive QBot...that will cost them nearly as much as admission did, per person....
