ZukoGirl
Okay I knew this ride had changed but gosh . My Mom and I wanted to see how this ride had changed. Well to start off we were trying to figure out The Crypt's new theming. (( Well I guess it's mortals left to rot in a underground chamber)) Known as a crypt I guess correct me if I'm wrong. Besides the fact that it looked like someone went to a Halloween store and brought some cheap decorations. But that really isn't important. Moving on, we went in and waited. We could hear people screaming like crazy so we thought it must be some good. Finally after waiting and wondering it was our turn to ride it. Sitting down and getting prepared I noticed the wall still had the Tomb Raider wall theme but that doesn't matter beside it shouldn't matter as long as the ride is good. I did notice that a row was removedbut I had already knew that from what people had said.Anyway the ride started and right away I knew this wasn't going to be the same ride experience and it wasn't. I have never been swung that hard before ever so it did that two times but something happened to the ride on the second time in went upside-down or inverted. It shook real bad and then stopped mid-air and fell. I think the hydraulics broke or something because all it did was slowly swing there back and forward. When it stopped they announced that the had broken down and they would do everything that they can to get us out safely. First they had to get the ride back to the right postion without setting off the ride so they could let the platform down. Okay so that was bad ride experience . I didn't get to subject to the whole ride . So what was your ride experience? Anybody who rode it all the way how did it end?

It ended very abruptly when I rode it.It just stopped at the top very hard, then softly went down.

Guest TombraiderTy
The ride is not meant to end at the ceiling and slowly come down, both of those times were malfunctions.
Kawana
I didn't get to subject to the whole ride . ^^^??? I have been consistently impressed each time I've ridden the Crypt this year. There is quite a bit of flipping at the end, and I would recommend that you give it another shot.

CoasterKrazy
The first time I rode The Crypt I thought the experience was too intense. However, the second time I rode was awesome! I don't think I was prepared for such a drastic change in the ride program from TR:TR, which may have been why I didn't enjoy the new program the first time. Aside from the lack of themeing in the ride chamber, I'm really happy with the new program. As a side note, the second time I rode The Crypt, they had a soundtrack during the ride consisting of wind and wolf howls. Nothing to write home about really, and you could only hear it at the very beginning and end, but it's there nonetheless.
dare-to-fly
The first time I rode The Crypt I thought the experience was too intense. I'm not sure it's possible to achieve such a thing.
cholderfield
What I don't understand is why we lost all of our theming, yet the outdoor "The Crypt" at Kings Dominion still has all (or most) of its theming intact...
xduckieloveskix
I like the Crypt a little. But if you rode Tomb Raider, you'd know that Tomb Raider was a little more cool and crazy... Nothing happened to me when I rode it.. But in one of the first few years it opened my cousin got stuck upside down.. They said they were hanging there for 15 minutes! Shman
What I don't understand is why we lost all of our theming, yet the outdoor "The Crypt" at Kings Dominion still has all (or most) of its theming intact... Most likely due to the fact that a majority of our theming was actual props from the Tomb Raider movie and had to be removed when the liscene was lost. I believe that KD's theming was simply build for the ride and had nothing to do with the actual movie. I could be wrong, but that seems like the best reasoning. deb
It shook like that both times I rode it. I assumed it was the only way to get it to stop. Now that I know it was malfunctions, makes me cautious of riding again (hubby won't ride due to "personal issues" with the restraints (think family jewels)) so I have to go it alone. *shrug* deb

Your cousin is pulling a fast one on you man because its impossible for the ride to get stuck upside down. Sorry to burst your bubble. teenageninja
Not true at all, in fact if I remember correctly it has been stuck upside down over the lava pit. You'd think it'd be impossible for a coaster to be stuck upside down, but Demon at SFGAM did that too. Anything mechanical that breaks is very hard to predict. Even better - the flames and water spray are still working as well...and I could be wrong - but it sure LOOKS like Tomb Raider theming I see at KD... goofywdw
I haven't been on for a couple of years because we moved to Ct and are moving back this summer. Does it still face you downward and shoot water up at you? Or is all of that lost? So basically I'm asking what theming is still left in the actual ride area itself.
The Interpreter
The water effect no longer works as such. As for what theming remains inside the ride chamber, the answer is essentially none.
goofywdw
^Really, that's depressing. I will be taking a trip to the area to prep for the move so I will be sure to check it out to see the changes. That is if the line is short. I'm not sure I will be willing to wait too long for this.

Pagoda Gift Shop
Huss Top Spins are designed to e-stop in way that automatically turns the ride carriage upright. So, yes it is not impossible for it to be stuck upside down, but it is highly, highly unlikely that it would happen. Huss Giants are a little more complex than your normal fair ride. As for riding it, after my last ride and the "terrifying" plunge towards the concrete floor, or the "horrifying" stare at the metal ceiling, I think I'll be passing on it from now on. I think if I hooked up a swing in my garage I could produce a very similar experience.
The Interpreter
Are you going to paint your garage black? And cover all the windows, if any? Put ventilation slots in the ceiling and have them open?

I think if I hooked up a swing in my garage I could produce a very similar experience. I don't think that a swing in your garage equals the ride experience on the Crypt. It's crazy fast, flips you MULTIPLE times without warning, and although the theming is (let's be honest) lame, the ride itself it great for what it is. There are fans of Drop Zone (Tower) who adore the ride and all it does is bring you up, drop you down going 61 mph. I finally rode DT, and LOVED IT. But is it worth my constant praise, no. The Crypt on the other hand IS. I loved Tomb Raider, I miss Tomb Raider, I still wanna yell "We should go back!" at the appropriate moment.... But it's a diff ride, unique unto itself. And that's what I love about it. Speed, hearing NOOBS scream their heads off, the whole 9 yards. I could live without the ink pen outta someone's pocket not paying attention to the black pouch speech (which hit me in the head on the first flip...) But I digress. If a "Monster" coaster takes it place, then so be it. I'll miss my giant huss top spin! deb
RailRider
Well no coaster is taking its place. So your Giant Huss TopSpin will be there in 09 and the forseeable future
