Stewart32
for our only trip to KI this year thus far ( sad but true). Wow! Where did summer go!. Myself, the wife, the boy and the grand daughter are all looking forward to FUN. KI rarely denies good times. For others attendind tommorrow, Enjoy! We have kicked around the idea of a Halloween trip as well and probably will go this season. Baylen will be 8 by then and a bit more prepared... perhaps. Stewart32
We arrived at about 10:30 AM and left shortly after the fireworks display. We usually leave at about 9:00 PM to "beat the traffic", but to be honest, the traffic after 10:00 PM was not bad at all. Not a whole lot to report with a couple of exceptions. First, the boy has now experienced every ride he is able to do so for his height restriction. His most noteable ride this trip was The Vortex for this time a year ago, he was a bit to timid to ride it despite my encouragement that "you will love it!". But this year, with certain resolve he bravely rode the first car/second seat to a new thrill. He had a quivering upper lip while climbing the principal hill. But fear quickly changed to thrill at about the apex of loop 2. And the facial expression changed from trepidation to glee. The loops had been his biggest psychological obstacle... and with good reason. We returned latter in the day an took front seats for an even better ride. I belive the boy would have spent the entire day on this ride alone, had I let him. An interesting aside. You know, you see all kinds of people at KI. A new one for me was some Mennonite folks ( or could have been Amish). Our first ride was Drop Tower, and in line there were four Menonite women. Bonnets, blue ankle length dresses, black socks and conservative shoes. Then later, on The Vortex, we shared the first car with a couple men from the same sect, I imagine. They were speaking in dialect. Just goes to show that everybody enjoys KI. Secondly, on this trip our grand-daughter got to experince her first real thrill ride, Fairly Odd Coaster. We opted for the front row and she was delighted immediately. Since this was a "first" we also purchased the on-ride photo which turned out surprisingly good. She is just shy of being able to ride the more thrilling attractions with excpetion of this coaster. Another thrill seeker indoctrinated. I dont care what anybody might say, this is a great little coaster with plenty of thirll for the little ones, and just enough for adults to make it worth while. Two major omissions on this day, we did not ride The Beast or SOB. Didn't really miss SOB for I already had a headache. But to miss The Beast was breaking with a 20+ year tradition. But thats ok, I think this iconic ride will be there next season! As for as new management under Cedar Fair, beside renaming several rides, I noticed that the ride ops always asked "How was your ride?" when pulling into the platform. Our next trip if any will be during Halloween. So, do any rides operate during the Halloween events?
Beast Man
During the Haunt hours all the rides except for the ones in Nick U and Flight Deck(because of Club Blood)are open.
Beast1979
During the Haunt hours all the rides except for the ones in Nick U and Flight Deck(because of Club Blood)are open. Actually Flight Deck just closes early amoung some other rides for the Haunt. They have the signs posted above the entrance saying things like: "This Ride will Close Early at 7:00pm". And a Note: Unless you have a strong stomach, avoid Club Blood.
Jasper
^From looking at the pictures i have seen of Club Blood i would take the mans advice. My goal in life is to ride The Beast during HH and to ride Drop Tower. And yes i do have lifetime goals and some are amusement industry related. gigacoaster2k
I have to make it back to KI. I haven't been there since August 9. I need a Drop Tower fix.. yes, I've been to Cedar Point twice in the last two weeks, but Power Tower's turbo drop just doesn't cut it. Jasper
To me Cedar Point is like a vacation. To others Cedar Point is their everday average joe amusement park. Wait? Cedar Point? Everyday average joe amusement park? What am i saying?

The Interpreter
You knew I'd post...yes, you knew. First of all, one of my favorite pictures of all time shows a group of nuns in their habits riding a wooden roller coaster. Caption? Holy Rollers. Second, for vacations, I prefer great adventures, but you all knew that already. . .
tigellinus
^^Is Skull Mountain worth a ride?? In my 9 all time visits to GAdv I've never ridden it!! (yet I was foolish enough to try TDK! )
The Interpreter
Think of Skull Mountain as a great introduction to Flight of Fear for the little ones...but without the launch. Twas better when the sound effects and the pumpkin worked....and when the roof didn't resemble the roof for Disaster Transport. Still, I never miss it....and these days it almost never has a line. The very back seat has one pop of incredible, and unexpected, airtime! And the ride is hysterical with all the lights on....which happens only very rarely. The Interpreter
You may have missed The Beast, but it's clear you had a great family visit...and the boy and your granddaughter will remember it many, many years from now...
