BoddaH1994 Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Pilgrim's Plunge is 165ft tall with 131ft drop. Link: http://holidayworld.com/new2009.html Quote
fanofki Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Looks like a neat ride, even if it is a water ride. I'm pretty sure I would be scared at the top of that thing. Quote
MarketingExpress Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Definately an interesting design Quote
CoasterKrazy Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 If I weren't studying structural engineering I may feel differently, but this ride looks awesome! I nearly drooled over that curved elevator lift! Good for Holiday World! Quote
BoddaH1994 Posted August 26, 2008 Author Posted August 26, 2008 Anyone find out any information on who's manufacturing this thing? Quote
Touchdown Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Anyone find out any information on who's manufacturing this thing? Im going to guess Intamin, because from the looks of the non POV video the ride has their style OTSR (gag.) And they are the only ones that build Shoot the Chutes really tall. Quote
Beast1979 Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Holly Macarony and Cheese! That's awesome! Definately a great ride for HW. I'd still like a steely for HW though. Quote
LongLiveTheSmurfRide Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Anyone find out any information on who's manufacturing this thing? I think, based on this pic, it's Intamin. If you look down in the lower right corner. Quote
BoddaH1994 Posted August 26, 2008 Author Posted August 26, 2008 I kind of guessed Intamin as well. Good find! Quote
flightoffear1996 Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Im kind of disapointed that its not like perlious plunge. Quote
bsudude84 Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Here is a vid from Indianapolis http://www.wthr.com/ Quote
DropZone99 Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Here is a vid from Indianapolis http://www.wthr.com/ I just watched that on TV about 5 minutes ago! Quote
RailRider Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 As discussed on the other Holiday World Thread, they have vids on the Holiday World site, it is built by Intamin at a cost of $4.5 million. Quote
Beast1979 Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 ^$4.5 Million? What happened to $8 Million? Quote
RailRider Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Well it was around $8.5 million they are spending all together. Knock out $4.5 for Pilgrim Plunge and $1mil for the new Holiwatch system that leaves roughly $3 million remaining. They are doing some parking lot and trafic light improvements which I would imagine aren't cheap and Im sure there will be some minor park maintence, maybe a new restraunt and I would say they have spent their money. Quote
Captain Nemo Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Oh how I love Holiday World. I am a sucker for water rides. I can't wait to see/ride this in 09. Only thing I am worried about is the lift breaking down. I LOVE that the ride has a duel entry from the waterpark and the main park! They should do this for White Water Canyon! Quote
Braves0511 Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Looks pretty fun, however the only thing I can critique at the moment and I haven't seen it in person either, but the modern elevator lifts and stuff seem like they would clash with the traditional look of the park...But thats a minor thing, I just had to pick on something haha Quote
Captain Nemo Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 but the modern elevator lifts and stuff seem like they would clash with the traditional look of the park... I feel you on that one. The thing is, no one from abroad would visit HW if they were to just add a simple water ride. They needed something to put them back on the map. Remember, HW is literally in the middle of nowhere and really rely on out of town visitors. Quote
DropZone99 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I just saw Pilgrims Plunge on TV for the hundredth time today! The anchormen/anchorwomen keep saying the ride it's self costs 4.3million. And they say stuff like "im not going to ride that, i hate roller coasters!" It's not a roller coaster, it's a modern chute the chutes ride, they need to get their stats right! Wow, what i just said doesn't sound like me! Quote
iChase Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Wow, I'm really impressed. The curved dual elevator is genius! I look forward to riding this. Quote
RailRider Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I agree Nemo, HW is truly out in the middle of nowhere. Whe we go we stay in Magnet IN, which is about an hour away from Tel City. We rent a cabin on the Ohio River in Magnet and then take one day to head North to HW, just not a good drive all together. Quote
RailRider Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Not sure if anyone has followed the construction of Pilgrims Plunge on HoliBlog or on Facebook, but this thing looks massive, yet a little unnerving at how minimalist the support legs look. Also the lattest says the ride will be topped off tomorrow. I think its going to be another great year for Holiday World. Quote
XGatorHead 8904 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I was looking forward to riding this this summer, until just now when I saw it was being manufactured by Intamin. I have not had the best of luck fitting into their rides since they tightened their restrictions a few years ago. Hopefully they'll have a test seat to avoid a walk of shame. Quote
FOFreak Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Yeah, it gets topped off tommorow morning at 9:30. Watch the webcam! It'll surely be a sight! I am not allowed to get a Facebook, so does someone mind posting to latest photos? Quote
Aaron88stang Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 that elevator lift looks sick. I can not wait to ride this. Quote
kittenpooh Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 That just doesnt look sturdy enough to ride.... I dont know about that ride. Quote
