Which do you like better? Diving Down or a Spiraling Plummet?

Me, I like Strait. Just falling strait down and all the airtime is so great.

strait drops because you get up to the fastest spead possible and because i just really like the felling of being able to see the track infront of you

Straight drop cause more airtime. I do love curvy drops too though.

I voted for straight because I think it's scarier. Like on MF you can see the bottom but it never seems like you're going to get there.

Both Curving and Straight.

I perfer a straight drop on a steel coaster, epsecially one that you cannot see the bottom of the track. Mavrick, Millie, Titan and Apollos Chariot are some of the best steel drops around.

Now if we are talking inverted we need a curved drop. Something like Alpengeist, Montu, or even Ice Dragon have amazing curving drops.

Now when it comes to Wooden coasters I prefer a curving drop, as in ThunderHead, Wildcat(HP), or Roar. Nothing like getting the latter G fest started with the first drop. Although I must admit the Son still has one of the best drops around, thats why I choose both.

Hmmmm, RailRider, you must ride El Toro, and that's no bull. I otherwise agree, and find the curving drop on East Coast Roar particularly weak and uninspiring....same for Wildcat at Hersheypark.

The first drops there are fun, and actually do something, unlike those on Wildcat and East Coast Roar, which so look like they should do something, but don't...other than drop rather unceremoniously....I suppose technically they are effective, since they do manage to drop!

i do love straight., but i like curved because sometimes it can be a headchopper

Well I'm a BIG fan of G-Force, so I'm going to guess that the curve drops deliever G-force as you turn to the left, but your body wants to keep going straight. I think I'm going to love it!!

Wow surprised you feel that way about Wildcat. I find the entire coaster to be very thrilling and the first drop is a very nice curved drop. No it is nowhere near the drop ThunderHead has, but still its a great example IMO.

Regarding Roar, I agree somewhat its not the best first drop, but the overall coaster is very enjoyable. If you cant tell I am a huge woodie twister fan and always a sucker for a good figure 8 layout Maybe I shoud have used the Ozark Wildcat or even the Kentucky Rumbler as better examples of what I like in a first drop on a wooden coaster.

I had plans on experiencing El Toro very soon after it opened, but life happend. I will make my trip there hopefully next seasson...

I love straight drops.

That first drop on Millie and the one on Maverick are just amazing. I can't get enough of that stomach-in-your-throat feeling from being thrown straight down like that.. another reason why I love free fall towers.
