Kenton's Cove/Tomb Raider de&con struction photos

Featured Replies

Here it is, a boring Saturday…so I have been searching the web for some odder Kings Island things…and I figured I would share a find of something that I hadn’t personally seen in years. These photos are all of the dismantling of Kenton Cove’s Keelboat Canal (Boo!) and the early construction of Tomb Raider:The Ride…they are from the long defunct PKIGuide.com site. These photos were a little tricky to find…and since these are not my photos I do not want to just post the actual photos here in my post…I will just post the direct links to them to make your life and mine easier than me trying to explain how to get to them.

I HAVE posted the names of the 2 people who are responsible for these VERY interesting photos.

Looking at some of these at this point in time is even more interesting right now because you can see areas where Diamondback is now being constructed.

I hope you enjoy them.

WOW!!! Those are some great old pictures!

PKIGuide.com? I have to admit I've never heard of it. I do recall KICentral buying another PKI website though... or does my memory serve me wrong?

Old Beast sign- http://web.archive.org/web/20020416112559/...on/093001/7.jpg

There was also guide to the Island, and pkiunlimited...which I believe was the site absorbed by the then pkicentral....

Great find, standbyme, thanks!

So KICentral was not the first site? So it was the... third?

Sweet pictures. What a great find! Those are the first pictures of the whole process I've seen.

In the beginning of time there was Guide to the Island, PKIGuide.com(now KIGuide.com) and than PKIUnlimited. Than early PKICentral came up and gained popularity as PKIU was always drama drama drama. Guide to the Island and PKIGuide shut down. PKIC than acquired PKIU and merged the boards. PKICentral came KICentral per Cedar Fair buying the park.

I feel like a dork.

But you're our Dork.

<G>

Were PKIGuide.com and Guide to the Island the same websites?

I can't remember much about KCKC I do remember that I didnt like it very much.My mom would make me ride it when I was about 6 or so. I was afraid of heights and water , so it was not fun. I can't help but wonder though would I like it now? I guess I will never know and that is sad :(
