Haunt Roamers

I've been reading the Haunt TR's, and noticed everyone focuses on the attractions, and not the general atmosphere. I'd like to hear what people thought of the roaming monsters around the park.

I was up on the 27th and i enjoyed myself.

The roaming monsters,i thought did a great job.

Granted im hard to scare at times but i went along with it to make it more fun for others watching.

One good one i saw was a roamer sneaking up on this girl and he stood right behind her and she turner around and screamed her head off and ran back to her boy friend and buryed her face in her hands and i guess her boy friend walked away.In that brief moment that monster was standing where her boy friend once stood and that girl with her head still down in her hands, leaned up againster who she thought was her boyfriend.WRONG.Monster got her again. That made my night.

I also got lost trying to find cemetry drive only to have a roamer try to help me.Your good dude.He stayed in chactor while trying to help me.And that guy in cemetry drive who was our guide, was great.

"He aint your leader,i am.I know these parts better than anyone.Oh yeah i know im good".

You did good.

As for the people who cant enjoy themselfs.STAY HOME.Dont mess up the night for people that want to have a good time.

How many people did i see beat up the old guy in the elelectric chair up front.Dumb ----.Get a life.

Everybody is doing a fine job and i hope to come back one more time before i call it a season.

Want to ride Vortex one more time. Now that i braved it,i love it.A must last ride of the night along with The Beast

I want to see that girl at urgent scare that walks around near the front. She said i reminded her of her old boyfriend when he was living but she bashed his brains in.I think im in love.

Great job again monsters and clowns who get over worked. You make the scare what it is.

Thank you again.

Monster got her again. That made my night.

I ended up saying "It's all right, he's gone" to her when she finally decided to look up at me and realize it wasn't her boyfriend. I about died laughing after that happened.

I went out to haunt last night, and speaking of the roamers - We were in line for the Skyline in Coney Maul and there was a gap between us and the people up at the window and a scare-actor came sliding in right between us and the people ahead of us. It was one of the guys on wheels or something that seemed to to a nose dive almost lying on the ground when he slid in and then back out. Talk about getting you when you least expect it, I didn't expect the area in front of the food counters to be fair game for haunting.

Overall I liked the event including the roamers, I as there right at opening and after getting in the main gate it was fun watching people getting through the gate. (They were doing their wall of monsters type approach)

There were way more roamers walking the midways than I remember in the past. The Phantom Theatre set on the bandstand was great.

We wound up doing Urgent Scare, Trail of Terror, Cornstalkers and Worksite. (Along with riding lots of rides)

I thought Urgent Scare was really well done, both in transforming the space from a motion theatre with stadium seatng, into a huant, and the quality of the haunt itself. The vibrating floor 'elevator' waiting room to see the doctor, and then I thought when we left the building the haunt was over, but no it continues all the way up the exit trail. So its got an outdoor element as well. It as funny I had just mentioned how effective it is to scrape a piece of metal against the pavement, when just around the next corner somebody was doing just that. I liked the person right as you exit the building who is up on a ledge in a harness and swings out over you (or almost into you). Is the action theatre queue area part of the haunt, I was confused even though it was a walk on there were scareactors roaming the unused side of the queue urging us to continue on to the hospital. We had just entered past the greeter in that first covered tunnel and there was a group *runing* back up the hill . Scared off *that* easy???

Trail of Terror seemed to be pretty much like last year, but with no less than 3 chainsaw wielding maniacs. Our trip through Trail of Terror was made a lot better as the group we got put up with was of the type that seemed squeamish and would freak out at the slightest thing.

I was just about to proclaim Worksite weak until we came to the shipping container, that one stunt made up for the whole rest of it.

Cornstalkers - I'm glad they finally made use of Timberwolf for Haunt, that outer trail is a natural. You have to watch out for those moving cornstalks the ones that move back and forth to keep you from advancing.

Ugh yes, even scrolling down I saw things I shouldn't have seen!

Anyways, I gave Karen a good haunting tonight, ehehehehhe.

You sure did!!! I did not think we were ever going to get away from you!!! That POP was awesome!!! I screamed loudly on that one - surprised you have hearing with all the screams you all hear each night!!

Thanks for the agreements on the "I am not scared" individuals. Whether they pay or not you are going to get those that do this. Yea some will pay just to show off to their friends about what a stud muffin they are when in reality how brave is it?? The monsters/creepers/scareactors are NOT ALLOWED TO TOUCH YOU so where is the bravery in that??

Well I will stay off of too much of that soap box because trust me it boils me to no end when I see the employees at the park being treated like that!!! I know a lot of these people and every single one of them treats me with respect and are as nice as they can be!!!

On a side note - to all of you that recognize me and come up to chat - thank you so much!!!!! That means the world to me when not only do you recognize me but are nice enough to talk to me and let me know who you are....it is great to put a face to a name on here. Since haunt I have had at least 10 people coming up to me and countless haunt scareactors/employees!!! I love it!!!!!

As for the roamers/creepers - I can not say this enough - - - - YOU ALL ARE FANTASTIC!!! I have several favorites but that list keeps growing each week!!! LOL

UncleHenry I did suspect that was you in the "NEW" look but was not sure!!! No matter what costume, you are an awesome roamer and I am happy to see you in that position!!!

Rumors of the "fish monster" ran rampant around the internet after local residents spotted what they claimed was a scaly man-like creature coming out of the Little Miami River. A video of the supposed monster showed up on YouTube not too long after these initial claims. Video analyzers and park officials at Kings Island, where many claimed to have seen the monster the past two weekends, are declaring that the "fish monster" was an elaborate hoax.

"That's not a hoax, that was real!" local resident Jimbo Shrimp argued yesterday. "I saw it with my own eyes, and I saw its death. Yes, it died. This bigger, meaner, generally SCARIER monster came out of nowhere, and bit into the fish monster's neck. It looked like it sliced open the jugular vein of the fish monster. As soon as the fish monster was down on the ground, this new monster pulled it into the woods by that dance club in the area."

When asked to describe this new "monster", Mr. Shrimp stated simply, "I didn't get a good look at it, but from what I saw, it had massive ears."

Mr. Shrimp has been relocated to the nearby mental institution.

^ I can confirm part of Jimbo Shrimp's story. I didn't actually see the fish monster being dragged into the woods, but I did see this new creature with the massive ears. He was lurking around Club Blood Friday night, somehow getting inside. But then Saturday, I understand he (or actually someone who looked exactly like him) was roaming elsewhere... Please don't ship me off to the asylum with Mr. Shrimp.

The monsters/creepers/scareactors are NOT ALLOWED TO TOUCH YOU so where is the bravery in that??

I had one funny girl last weekend, she was trying to hide behind the person in front of her. As she went by, she kept chanting to herself "They can't touch me, they can't touch me, they can't touch me..." over and over again. I of course said to her "I wouldn't want to!" :P

I think the roamers, at least from my experience last Friday, are a great addition to the overall atmosphere of the park, which I have pinned as the single best aspect of the Haunt, but it's important to note that it's a collective aspect. I am actually one of those people that doesn't really want to be scared. It's only because I'm very jumpy and can make some really weird sounds if something really spooks me. I'm always looking over my shoulder and I'm always concerned that some terrible monster is going to get me at the next corner. But I actually like that feeling. I think it's much more of a challenge to the spooks to spook me, and in a moment of weakness on my part, I'm sure one will one day. I think that if I do go by myself this coming up Friday, which so far is the plan, I will be much more of a target. But, I am a guy, and I am a somewhat big guy. So, I've got those two things working for me since the spooks tend to go after smaller females. Of course, if I'm the only one around to spook, I presume that I probably will be. With all if the fog, which is also a part of that collective best aspect of the park, it makes things really hard to see at times--even on International Street. So I always go through the fog with caution.

I do like the roamers. I think they all do a great job. They seem to have a large concentration at International Street, but really there is no safe zone anywhere in the park. Walking down the Midway and going through AZ and Rivertown, I saw a roamer every time. (I liked the guy with the shovel! What a prop!) None has yet to get me quite yet, but I'm sure that my time will come--or at least that's what the odds are.

My thing is I'm actually a giant 'fraidy cat. I am one of those people, and you've all seen them, that kind of tries to laugh things off to disguise their fear. But it's not like a hysterical laugh, it's more of an uncomfortable laugh that most of the spooks, if trained well, could see right through! Yep, that's me! But I love The Haunt.

The spook in the third photo down here: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=15119 was the one that I talked about in my Trip Report as spooking my aunt really good, and trying to spook me. I thought it was great because even though she was attacked by a lot of monsters in the front, she never got scared until then. Does anyone know who he is?

A sketch artist has taken the description of this new monster, and has come up with this sketch of what the "creature" might look like.
