Adventure Express

Adventure Express is a really nice mine roller coaster, but years of slim and none matinance has taken its toll on the potential thriller. The basis of the ride is its theming, specifically in its tunnels. The tunnels have numerous things in them that are in need of repair or replacement. For instance, when the train just pulled out of the station and was going into the first tunnel, there used to be bells and flashing lights. Those items do not work anymore and/or not activated anymore. In a roller coaster of that style, these extras make or brake its style.

I believe that Adventure Express's interest has gone down because of the extra that don't work anymore. I think that they should repair/replace the extras. And add some fog, dramatic lighting, sound effects, and more mannequins. I thinks that it would be awesome to have a strobe light in the last tunnel (Before the lift hill). Plus, some stuff that pops out at you like a spear, or an ax. These improvement would make it more of a exciting ride, therefore bring more people to ride it.

A good theme park needs to build new rides to make people come to the park, but the older ones keep them in.

This year, they did do work on AE, and you could tell it at night. They replaced a bunch of the lights on the track, so it looks really good at night. They haven't had the fog working for years, and probably won't be fixed. The spears and stuff that are stuck in the ceiling and walls, used to move up adn down, or in and out, but no longer do that. One can only hope that with some of the supposed Aesthetic improvements planned for next summer, some of the AE stuff is on that list.

And once again i am here to tell you that you're wrong. The animation in all the tunnels works. It all did last year...and for whoever said they need to add a spear or axe that jumps out at you...well there is so i dont have any clue what you're talking about. And for the person that said that they need to maintain the extras to get more people to ride, explain why when it is already the most ridden ride in the park? It is. I have said it and defended it in numerous express posts. If you dont believe me then fine i dont care but Adventure Express has the most riders every year with the exception of racer, but thats two coasters and thats cheating so screw them. The fog is not broke for the intelligent person who said that it wasn't 'working', and that same person went on saying it probably won't ever be fixed. They intentially turned off the fog for reasons that have been mentioned countless times in previous "Let's bash Adventure Express becuase it's such a puny ride that riding it makes you feel like the sh*t aint workin" threads. Although they have turned it on for fearfest the past couple years, although i'm not sure if it was on last year...but it was for sure in 01 and 02. Huh, must be weird how the broken fog gets fixed every year for fearfest...especially considering that it "probably won't be fixed".

The park keeps the darn ride maintained...my memory does not serve me correctly and i just called someone and they thought differently but im pretty sure the bell and flasing light outside tunnel 1 worked. Could be wrong. But even if i am thats just one friggin thing that isn't working...and i'm sure they'll get it working for this year if thats the case, so dont worry your concerns over that one item and the high level of concern will most likely be addressed as prompt as possible. So why start a whole thread over a flasing light and a bell dinging. I dont get it.

OK to address yet even more of your misconstrued statements of incoherent rambling, i would like to take time to mention the improvements that one of you so gracefully decided was a good idea to battle the fact that "Adventure Express's interest has gone down". Yea. Let's start there actually. Adventure Express's Interest has gone down. hmm.. wow. I guess i'll just believe you, i mean you presented such a good arguement, and backed it up with all that compelling evidence, i mean sh*t, you could sway a whole jury with the case you presented. I cant believe i never thought of that. Ladies and gentlemen, we have our on Johnny Cockran on PKIU boards. Congrats buddy. LOOK, i'll believe you as soon as i see pie charts, and bar graphs and maybe a couple powerpoint presentations to back yo sh*t up, becuase the ride is only, hmm what was that...oh yea: THE MOST RIDDEN RIDE IN THE WHOLE FRIGGIN PARK.

But back to the ideas you have to make this thing a 5-star world class resort. They were: "fog, dramatic lighting, sound effects, and more mannequins". First and foremost: the fog. I already addressed this so if you forgot already then your dumb and lets move on. Dramatic lighting. Excuse me, have you ridden the thing at night? It has the most dramatic lighting of any ride but TRTR. Seirously its like your on a blessid acip tripout with all them colors. Its freaking beatufil to be honest. Sound effects. ROFL. DUDE, the thing is the only coaster in the park besides fof with sound. Theres monkees, and birds and all kinds of noises. And its not even all the same....i mena lift one has its own sound track of stuff roaring and crap. I mean crap...you can hear that soundtrack clear at SOB at night once the patrons leave. Mannequins....yea...i dont even know what you're talking about. Do you want to advertise a super sleek looking line of Adventure Express clothing???? we could call it AE...oh wait thats American Eagle...what about AE:TFSWCR, for Adventure Express: The Five Star Worldclass Resort. No seorusly...are you talking like monkey and snake manequins?? becuase theres snakes all over the place...ive ridden that ride more than any ride in my life...and every time i see some new snake in a corner or something i never saw before...its impossible to even notice all the 'mannequins' when you ride....i dunno i guess im just not hip with style anymore to appreciate such a risky move into the fashion business.

As my friend i consulted in putting together this mess of words put it, (we'll call him express god, becuase thats what he is - an expert in this field). "you should give them a good *****ing out for me. express is a great mine train coaster. it's not supposed to be big, but it's great at being what it is, and i will not have some fat ugly 40 year old virgins talking bad about her". So with that said...stfu everybody and leave my express alone.

I'm sorry, but you all just got owned by him. Yeah, the theming on that ride doesn't compare with TRTR, but for when it came out it is themed very well. Yeah, I have not ridden AE at night (at least recently), but that's because normally I'm at AZ at that time because that's when it's least crowded. I will try and ride AE at night sometime this season.

Boobkinos, I can understand where you're coming from, but like many other people, I do not see the spears operating. I did not say they don't work, I'm saying that the last time I saw them working was in the very late 90s. You may be right in saying that they do work, but I haven't seen them operate, and I watch them every time from the train just before it makes its ascent up the first lift hill. I remember the fog working several years ago, and I haven't seen it in operation. It probably works, too, but for the past many seasons, it was not on. I also recall the big guy at the top of the second lift (that is above you with the 'lava') that he used to blow hot air on you, but then again, this may have never happened and it could have been just me.

In the few years, I have noticed acutal updates in the scenery of Adventure Express. From what I see, it looks as if the whole first tunnel was re-done within the past couple of years.

Adventure Express is one of the most 'scenery-ized' rides in the park, and that's one of the reasons that I still ride it at least twice a day when I visit the park. It's just from what I see, things aren't the same as they were on Adventure Express from years ago. Changes may have been made to the way the scenery works on that ride, I don't know. I don't work at the park, I am just a paying customer. I see what I see, I don't always see what the park employees see.

Which is why i'm telling you you're wrong.

Dude of course you havent seen the fog work - they turned it off for reasons that i

will not mention. And the spear works. You're just blind.

The "fog" was turned off because it wasn't fog, it was water mist. The mist slowly caused the track to rust, so it was cheaper to keep the mist off than keep it on all the time and have to replace the track every so often. It would be nice though, if PKI would replace the misters with actual fog machines instead.

And I rode Adventure Express about 15 times during the 2003 season and the spears only moved once. ( And even then, it wasn't but an inch or so from only one or two of them ) I watched them from the time I entered the tunnel until the time the train went over the lift hill, and they never moved. I'm not blind, in fact, I'm perfectly capable of detecting if the spears moved or not. They didn't. They may have worked sometimes during the season, but for some reason I doubt that because 1 out of 15 isn't that great of a record.

Adventure Express is a great ride, its just that the themeing has gone down hill. Hopefully, PKI will keep of the re-furbishing they started with the second lifthill and station music and take AE to the way it was before.
