Mr. Coastermania
Congrats Pikeman! Not to hijack your topic, but one of the gifts I got for Christmas was a new scale (we've been saying we needed a better one for years). I finally got it out and used it for the first time Sunday...and let's just say I was not happy with what I saw...it was the heaviest I've ever been. Fortunately not "season premiere of The Biggest Loser" heavy , but there was a mark I never wanted to go above, and I was above it. Looking at myself in the pictures of the KIC event also reaffirmed that something needs to be done. (Why is it that I always think of myself as skinnier than what I actually am?) Since then, I've put myself on a strict diet, and will be upping my efforts at the gym (which I have let slide recently). Let the weight loss begin (again)! Dont be to strict.Losing weight can be fun but only if you can still enjoy the foods you like.Just be in control of your food.Dont let it control you.Eat healthy foods that fill you up.Just pick ones you like and when eat those kinds of foods, you wont be so hungry when your eating something like pizza or chicken ect.And most important remember drinks plenty of water.Good luck to you. Mr. Coastermania
Wow, 25 lbs! Congrats!!! Hopefully I'll see you there on opening day sliding into those seats with plenty of room to spare! I know.Theres nothing like the feeling of a lap bar crushing your midsection when they try to make you fit.To have the extra room to fit, will be much more enjoyable. I still hope to make it to Cedar Point this year.At 5-6 255 lbs and a 44 inch waistline,im getting there. Opening day ride on d-back i hope for but if the lines are to crazy, there are still plenty of other things to go on.I will be there early so hope to see you there. kings_island~thrill is me!
You can just do what Carl Eiechlman (world record times riding beast)did. Just go to Kings Island every day do not eat and ride The Beast all day. He lost over 80 pounds doing that.
tigellinus
^^And yet, no doubt a CT test would show lbs. wasn't the only thing lost!!

Thanks for the advice. I had a lot of bad eating habits, which I've cut. I'm also eating healthier foods, smaller portions, cut out the soda, and drinking lots of water (which certainly does fill one up!). I'm allowing myself a few exceptions: 1 dessert item a week (I was having way too much since my wife keeps buying them...since Sunday the willpower has kicked in), and I can't do without my weekly Chipotle Day every Wednesday! teenageninja
Congrats, I'm about to start trying to cut some pounds too. Right now I'm 6'0 240, shooting for 215. I can easily ride anything at the park and at CP, but am shooting to look better. Gator, Chipotle is great as far as I'm concerned, although I usually get the Bol instead of the actual Borrito, it cuts a lot of the fat and calories. Congrats Pikeman, I wish you the best of luck at CP and KI this season, and kudos to you.
The Interpreter
Congratulations! Knott's Berry Farm has some incredible rides. Don't forget how close you will be the to the Disneyland Resort! Magic Mountain is also not that far away.Thank you. Yep magic mountain is a fun place.been there before.I cant wait to ride viper.I cant remember the stats so im not sure how viper compares to Vortex but both are still great rides. And yes i got to try i think it's called tower of terror at disneyland. Just remember, Tower of Terror is at California Adventure, not Disneyland! My most favorite flat ride ever! I know what you mean. I've gone my share of days at KI without food, but I'm finding that eating in the park is rather satisfying. Once you get used to the prices, the food has been much better, the areas are clean, the atmosphere is amazing (especially the LaRosas tables right next to Vortex), and the portions are filling for the price. Riding The Beast all day would be fun, but I'd miss the others (especially The Racer). I've ridden The Beast for over 2 hours straight, but then nature called and I decided it was time to pay a visit to the other favorites. Mr. Coastermania
I try to eat before i get to the park and i pack lunches in the cooler for later. That really saves on money. I just dont understand why they price like they do. If they sold food at fair prices, then im sure they could make a killing and keep more guest happy. The Interpreter
And I have even thought of bringing a cooler with celery, carrots, chicken, etc. It's not mostly about the prices, though that would help, but about the relative lack of healthy food choices in the park. I don't have this problem to the same extent at other parks, but it is very difficult to find healthy food in small portion sizes at Kings Island. This is not true at parks like Dorney, Great Adventure, Dollywood or even Cedar Point. From Dorney's website: .... Healthy Choices Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom serves a variety of healthy food choices. Turkey wraps, caesar chicken wraps, veggie wraps, grilled chicken caesar salads, side salads, seven veggie pizza, and low-fat SUBWAY sandwiches are some of the items available. With the exception of the SUBWAY sandwiches, where do you find most of those choices at Kings Island? Outer Hanks has a nice grilled chicken salad, but that's about it, unless you want to count the tiny, very expensive side salads at Skyline on International Street. . . violakat03
Healthy choices are the biggest reason I don't eat at the park. My stomach can't handle greasy food when it's hot out. I pack a cooler with sandwich fixings and leave it in the trunk of the car. That way I save money, eat better, and don't get sick from the greasy pizza combined with the hot summer days. I also only drink water (free!) when I'm inside the park.
Mr. Coastermania
Got a good workout in yesterday and man am i sore.Played baseball since it was warm for once this winter. It was fun but hard on my legs. Jaredap88
yeah i figured...last time i was at the park i weighed something like 300 (or maybe a little more)...and just in the little bit of working out i did (and running around at my job) im now down to 270...sooooooo might as well pick myself up and drop another 110 lbs to be at my proper weight. i was actually thinking going to the park all summer would help me out. if im there riding rides and running around the way i plan to the lbs will just melt away..between that and working out and working...i should be golden
tigellinus
^^Except, park-going is a haven for junk food consumption...so maybe not.
The Interpreter
At Kings Island, unfortunately, yes. One can solve that by bringin' one's vittles. Saves a few nickels, too.
Captain Picard
If you are at KI all day walking around you should be burning enough calories to have something to eat. I would guess 300 pounds walking and standing for 12 hours should burn around 3000+ calories. The only problem with eating the park junk is you want more of it when you are not at KI walking. iChase
This is crazy. I was going to post a weight-loss thread right before I saw this topic. It's become clear to me that being overweight has limited my activities in life. And really, I'm not that severely overweight. I'm 325 and 6'4" so it evens out. But when I began not being able to fit on rides, I realized that I was loosing out on things I love. Currently, I can't fit on FoF or Drop Tower, and barely on Crypt, Delirium, and the wooden coasters. Starting next week (I'm fighting a sunburn this week) I'm going to start getting up early before school and working out and running. We have a small gym in my basement, so it works out well. My goal is to get under 300 and even more importantly, fit on FoF. I'll try to post weekly weigh-ins. EDIT: I forgot! Pikeman, best of luck to you! We can do this together. I know all about being limited. It nevered stopped me from trying but being over weight can make things hard to do as well not fitting in seats of your favorite rides. Just the basic is the first things you should start with.Drop the sodas and drink more water. If you must have a soda, find a good tasting diet one.I like diet root beer. Cut down on fat foods or as i like to call them fast foods. It never fills you up. Eat more lean meats like skinless chicken, turkey or pork.Eat more fruit and veggies.COME ON NOW YOU HAVE TO LIKE SOME KIND OF VEGGIES. Eat tell your comfortable but not tell your stuffed. I use the weight watchers plan and it works for me since i still eat mostly what i want but i track what i eat. Anyhow good luck to you and hope to see you on FOF. iChase
Great tips man! I actually rarely drink soda. I usually only have soda when I'm at sit-down restaurants or parties. Since both occurrences are slowing for me, I don't drink much soda. I guzzle water like it's going out of style. What's really helped me, and it may work for you too; I've been buying 1.5 liter bottles of Fiji at Trader Joe's for $1.75. I have one each day in addition to several more regular sized bottles of Absopure. Also, I stopped eating fast food (mainly the main three, BK, McD, and Wendy's) which has helped me tremendously. I still eat Arby's, but smarter, and occasionally Taco Bell but I don't think it stays long enough to hurt. My biggest problems are, like you said, veggies. I just can't seem to find a veggie I enjoy, at least a veggie that isn't deep fried. That and my large steaks. If I have one, it's typically a 16 oz. Which is killing me slowly. I guess food isn't my real problem. Physical activity is. I literally do nothing. My only exercise is traveling down the stairs to the fridge. I have a fast enough metabolism that if I start drinking even more water, slightly cut back on portions, and start hitting the treadmill, Ab Lounge, and free weights, I should be okay. I think. Thanks for the advice. I'm looking forward to seeing less of you!
Mr. Coastermania
Hey thank you all for your support. It helps to know that others are trying to lose weight as well, but all the tips and info that you give me really helps. Last year i had a few things happen to me that made me want to turn my life around. 1.Seeing a guy that weighed so much, that the ride op on SOB said im sorry sir but there is no way. 2.I rode The Beast last year but that lap bar and me became one(i cant breath)lol. 3.Finding from a friend that i should skip Cedar Point until next year.I may not fit on a lot of rides there. THAT DID IT. Getting my butt in gear is what im doing and reaping the bonuses of a healthy lifestyle. On that note im pleased with this weeks weigh in 245.5 LBS FOR A TOTAL OF 33 LBS lost so far.God is good. Im taking it 10 pounds at a time but i will make it. iChase
Congratulations! Great weigh in. I know exactly what you're talking about with Cedar Point. I went, waited for two hours for Millennium Force and got turned down. Luckily, I had gone the year before and could ride everything. But now I can't ride Millie and TTD, probably not Mantis, maybe Iron Dragon, and a few others. So I was pretty depressed after that little incident. But now in addition to the rides, I have another incentive. My mom agreed to ride TTD with me when I can fit again.

That gets your metabolism going and from there just try to cut back a little at a time. You will find that it takes less to hit the spot.
