dare-to-fly
A coaster that I have had different experiences on is SOB I guess. Riding it as a guest near the back was real rough but test riding before the park opened in the front with the whole train to myself was amazing. The very front seat on the train is the only smooth spot on it. I guess that's why I usually ride in the very back.

Riding it as a guest near the back was real rough but test riding before the park opened in the front with the whole train to myself was amazing. I rode SoB for the first time in the summer of 2004 and I thought it was amazing and rode it at least 30 times that year and did so until the summer of 2007 and after new trains were installed and the loop was taken out I feel like it's the most rough and horrible ride I have been on. Is this really true, or did you let your personal feelings get in the way of your judgement? If you like something a ton, then you can overlook the trim brak...uh wrong coaster...roughness because you are really enjoying the ride. The first time I rode SoB it gave me a headache. I can asure you that it was indeed rough with the loop as well. That said, it is my #4 at KI (until April), though it's higher on that list on the rare occasions when they blow the brakes. clbehymer
The biggest Jekyll and Hyde moment for me would have to be FoF before and then after the OTSR removal.
RailRider
The biggest Jekyll and Hyde moment for me would have to be FoF before and then after the OTSR removal. Very Very True. When it was the OTSR I would always get a cramp in my legs, now with the lap bar its great.
beastrider97
Test Track at Disney World. When I rode it the first, second, third times I thought it was a good ride with all the theaming. But last year when we went I didn't find it near as fun.
Zorba
Beast at Day versus Beast at Night. During the day it is probably my #5 woodie, at night definitely #2.

I have to agree with you on that one the OTSR gave me a headache every time and now I love the ride.
CedarPointer
Son of Beast's first and last rides of the day. First ride, it was a somewhat enjoyable ride. Last ride, well, I still have back problems from that...

When it was the OTSR I would always get a cramp in my legs, now with the lap bar its great. I rode it in its inaugural year and suffered a huge headache. I'm only 5'3" and my ears lined up perfectly with those restraints. After that experience, it became the only coaster that I refused to ride. Now its a must ride for me every visit. It has also taken the spot of my son's favorite steel coaster. Of course, he never rode it with the OTSR, so its always been a great ride to him. EDIT: Post 201... I'm officially a Junky and it only took almost two years. I guess I don't have as much to say as some others
gad198
Two more experiences I can recall... Montu @ BGA. The quality of the ride is really determined by one thing, the trim brake right before the batwing. I remember riding in 2002 in the backseat and thinking "man, if they ever turn off that trim brake the batwing would be amazing!". I went down this past December for a return visit and rode in the same backseat with the trim off. It was a completely different experience. The forces in the batwing made everyone in our row say "whoa!" as we exited the first part of that element. The rest of the ride was much quicker and I enjoyed my rides order of magnitudes more. Thunderhead @ Dollywood. We rode in the front seat and got off the ride the first time thinking "this ride is good, but it seems like it's missing something." That something was the additional action you get in the back seat. We had the added bonus of having it shower on us, which not only made the ride FLY around the course but brought out the wonderful smell of the surrounding forest. I would agree there was "more action" in the backseat, the ride is more violent and doesn't let up even more than the front! However, as Robbie will tell you, we found the front seat in the dark to be the better of the two! This is just because of the view of the layout and the mountain side in the front! Thunderhead is a gem of a coaster, a pure gem!
CoastersRZ
Yep! It has become one of my favorite wooden coasters. I can`t wait to get back to Dollywood this year to ride it again!

I Did not ride FOF with the OTSR either. It has been one of my favorites from my first ride too. The whole hanger, UFO, theme works great. The bodies in the tanks. Empty trains coming in. For a first time rider, this coaster is awesome!!!

CincinnatiCyclone
I think Flight Deck is the biggest change experience. It you sit Front seat of a car, it's so much better than the back. And at the bigining of the season it is really smooth. At the end, it feels as if there were speed bumbs on the track.
ZukoGirl
I found that if I ride The Racers in the front seat it's a bit smoother for me but if I ride in the back or even in the middle it's a bit less smooth. For Firehawk I thought it was an excruciating experience I was in the second row, but when I rode the very last row I felt like was dangling in my harness Another one I noticed a difference in is Avatar The Last Airbender. If you sit on the end Row you get more feel out of the ride but the further you sit to the middle you kind of are cheated of of the experience
The Interpreter
...which on Avatar is a good thing. Little ones can ride towards in the inner rows with their parents, and then graduate to the outer rows.
TOPGUN1993
Accept, you don't have a choice to where you sit.
The Interpreter
I have found that if you ask very nicely, you usually do. Except on Laser at Dorney Park, which is now gone, or in the old days at what is now the Six Flags Cyclone at SFNE, which, sadly, is not really worth the wait if you can't pick your own seat. Diamondback FOF
Yeah. I have found Flight Deck is much more extreme/intense feeling if you sit in the front seat. But if you sit in the back, I don't find it nearly as exciting.
CincinnatiCyclone
One time on a sunday, I rode SOB after it rained. It felt like you went soo much faster(probably just because I was nervous). Now there is a Dramatic Change, you felt like you flew down the track, without any rails.
The Interpreter
The one and only time I ever got significant airtime on Son of Beast was right after a rainstorm, in the back seat of the old trains, with none other than the famous Dave Althoff, Jr. Go figure. sgshredder33
I have been on Tower Of Terror countless times and it seems that everytime I ride it I can never predict how many times it will drop. LOL. Seriously though I think The Beast is better at Night. I usually rode FOF where ever there was an open seat. Now I will always wait for the front. The ride just seemed so much faster. It seemed so different, It was just a great experience(sp?).
