^HR is not open until March 1st. But I think that is for Associate Services for people going to turn in paper work. There are probably people there so I guess you could try calling tomorrow.

Ah, well I called last night and it said something about HR being open NOT PROCCESING Which is diffrent (a line hour long if you know what I mean) <- Note that any employee would know what that means, but ya something about Monday Tuesday saturday and sunday I beilieve were the times, cause they still have to do interviews during the off season still.

Today I was hired in food and beverages. Rides was my first choice but they said that they had stopped interviewing for the day when I got there. They said I could either schedule an interview for later this week or interview right then for my second choice, food. I decided to save myself a trip and interview right then, however I think rides would be much more fun. Do you think there is any way for me to still interview in rides? Or is it too late for that? Thanks!

I would say to stick with Food Service because you already accepted the job and that might be the "right" thing to do. However, since you havn't gone in and processed your paper work yet there might still be a chance you could get an interview. I don't think I can answer that question, only HR can.

lol That happened to me last year, what they told me was that once you accepted your job at one place you would have to wait until the end of the season to try and get a job some where else.....

Yep, I overheard that being said to someone else today.

Do you think that all the ride associate positions are filled up already?

That's what I'm worried about, my interview for rides isn't until Friday...

^I wouldn't think already filed up maybe just a bit more picky as it gets down to less positions to fill. That is just my guess because I have no idea.

i was applyinmg for rides as well!!!!! like i said i will try next year. it was going to be hard to get there everyday anyways.

Don't over-read though. I doubt they are looking for a general manager! :)

Hey I wouldn't worry. You still get to work at KI.

I have one piece of advice though. Be the best darned employee possible. All too often I am faced with someone in food that is completely unfriendly. They typically have that angsty teen thing going on. They seem upset that they have to work in food service.

Show these people up, make the customer feel like they matter. Be enthusiastic and go the extra mile. "A job worth doing is a job worth doing right."

^My brother actually enjoyed working as a food and beverage associate, you get paid more than most (at least I think...you may need this promotion that isn't too hard to get). I applied for it but they are reviewing my other job choice which was the only thing I could do...character cohort...

I applied as a food and beverage associate but i am hoping to switch to my second choice of rides if they will let me when (if) I get an interview.

I had a question about jobs at KI that I decided I would rather post in this thread than start a new one with not that much of a different topic: I have heard a few times that they let a few 15 year-olds become ride-ops or game asscoiates, is this true for either of them, because I really want to start working at KI next season when I am 15!

as of last year the follow dept. had 15 year olds from my memory:

Merchandising

Games

Food

Entertainment

Ecology

-- if i missed any feel free to post

And there are certain things minors of certain ages can't do...even if 16 or 17. Kings Island will, for example, be keeping minors of that age far from trash compactors, meat slicers, etc.....

ive always wanted to work at the park...but being from columbus ive never had the chance...

but now my girlfriend works there so i can just live through her  ha!

and anyways i'd be afraid that working there would take some of the fun away from the park

In a way its true some of the magic of the park dissipates but in place you find some kind of connection with the park you could never have just by visiting.

You will also find it changes how you view other parks...in many, many ways...forever.

And for me, at least, that's a very good thing.

Terpy, who knows these things

That's actually what holds me back (in addition to an hour drive) from getting a job at the park. I really don't want to lose the magic of KI.

As others have said, it's not so much you lose the magic, but you gain perspective. You will also gain friends and experiences that, if you are like many, you will treasure forever. You may even find a career. Many have. Put another way, it's not just a job, it CAN be a great adventure.

very well spoken ... id have to agree with it also ... you make a bunch of friends ... and you see things from a differ side ... i think i love ki more than i did when i just went once a week

I can see that. I don't see working there as a job either. I would actually enjoy being there every day.
