BoddaH1994 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 From the Diamondback Blog: On Opening Day, Saturday, April 18, the first 10,000 guests to challenge the new Diamondback roller coaster will receive a FREE limited edition First Rider T-Shirt. Diamondback is the tallest, fastest and meanest roller coaster at Kings Island. The $22 million steel coaster stands 230 feet at its highest point with a first drop of 215 feet at a 74-degree angle. The ride has 10 vertical drops overall, two helixes and a splashdown ending. Riders will snake their way around 5,282 feet of track at speeds up to 80 miles per hour. http://kiDiamondback.com/public/latest/blog/ Quote
Fire-Beast-OF FEAR Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 If my calculations are correct I will be the 8640th in line! (thogh the shirt dose look relitivly cheap but heck its FREEEEEEEEEEEEE!) Quote
Dvo Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 It looks just as good as the Firehawk shirts, and mine is still in great shape Quote
TOPGUN1993 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 My guess is they will only have Large and above? Quote
DropZone99 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Yay, Another shirt added to my collection! And my second first rider tee shirt. This time, I got to pick up my shirt early cause on Firehawk's opening day I waited til' After 10pm. and there was only XL left... And I wear a Small or Medium. Quote
gigacoaster2k Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 My guess is they will only have Large and above? I have a question (one that is undoubtedly going to sound stupid). Does this mean a t-shirt goes out to the first 10,000 riders after the six auctioned trains go out, or does it include the auction winners? Quote
Dvo Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 192/10,000 = .0192. So even if they did include the auction winners, less than 2% of the tees would go to them. Shouldn't be too much of a problem. Quote
standbyme Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I think it's a nice gesture on the park's part...after all, it's not like they have to do this to get people to show up that day. Quote

It's not like this is going to generate more hype than there already is. Pretty cool to see KI do something like that. Quote
Diamondback FOF Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I agree, it does look sorta cheap, but like Fire-Beast-OF FEAR said, it is free, which is always a plus! Anyways, I think it looks better than the Firehawk First Rider shirts. How hard do you think it will be to get one of the shirts if you arrive at around 9 am? Quote
DropZone99 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I can't totally remember, but I'm pretty sure I was the 1,462th. rider on Firehawk. I hope to be in the top 500 for Diamondback. Quote

Shouldn't be too much of a problem. Thanks fellow CP/MF fanatic. I am exhausted from work and appreciate someone thinking for me. To you who have the nerve to say the t-shirts look cheap: At least you are getting something. Sometimes it astounds me how incredibly spoiled some of you are. First we cried about the difference in color of supports, then we cried about no preview day even after daily ERT was announced, and now we are crying because the t-shirts that are a gift to first riders aren't up to Abercrombie standards? What will it take to please you? If you don't want the t-shirt, don't take it. It's that simple. /rant Quote

Diamondback FOF Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 ^^I think the shirts loof kinda cheap, but I am NOT by any means complaining. Also, I think the shirts looks pretty sweet, if anyone cares about my opinion. Double also, I want one, and if anyone doesn't want theirs, I will gladly take it off of your hands, too . Quote

I love the shirt designs that the park has to offer, and I have many others agreeing with me that they need to expand their size availability. I'm all for appealing to what the customer wants, and I was merely trying to share ideas and be productive instead of just obnoxiously blurting out that something is cheap. Quote
Skywriter Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I'm not complaining not much stuff is free these days and Skywriter will get 2 Quote
Justin_M17 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Awesome It'll be my first "First Rider" shirt, assuming that 10k people don't manage to get in line before I do... Quote
standbyme Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 You know what I mean though... I was just kidding you...all in fun. I agreed with both your t-shirt topic and your comment in this thread. Quote
DropZone99 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I think as soon as I get one DB ride in, I'll get back in line. I want atleast two rides on Diamondback opening day, one in the morning and one at night, but I'm going to try to get more. Quote

And besides, Giga, if you get right back in line after the First Ride auction you'll undoubtedly still be under a 10,000th rider!! I can't confirm sizes, but even for a 3 hour wait they'd still have 5,000+ shirts left. And besides all of that, I would think an auction First Rider will get a shirt anyway. Also, looking at the Blog, I finally now know what Erin looks like!! Quote
dare-to-fly Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 A t-shirt is a t-shirt. How can it be cheap or not? If it doesn't cost much, it would be cheap; whereas, if it costs a great deal, it is not. Now, I agree with the first part. A t-shirt is a t-shirt, which is why I won't pay more than $15 for a T-shirt. I hope to be quick enough to get one of these first rider T-shirts. I'll probably be the 10,001st rider. I can't help it if I have to say hi to an old friend next door first. Quote
Ashers Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I think it's awesome that KI is doing that! I agree with Angie on this one....some of you guys are really spoiled if the first thing you blurt out is 'the shirt looks cheap'. Not, 'wow, can't wait to get my free Diamondback t-shirt, thanks KI for doing this for us when you could EASILY slap a pricetag on them and sell them in the gift shop...". If you guys think it looks so cheap, then I honestly hope you skip out and don't pick yours up if you ARE one of the first riders on Diamondback. Ugh, some people really amaze me. People get something for FREE and yet still feel the need to complain. Grrr. Anyway, I think that's great....thanks KI! ~Ash Quote
Kawana Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 As cool as this is, the fact that my size will undoubtedly not be available makes this kind of MEH for me. Nice gesture, I'm just too big. Quote
Tom76257 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Can't wait to get mine! Anybody have a pic of the one for Firehawk? I really wasn't a coaster enthusiast back then and I've only been on Firehawk twice (both times in 2008). Quote
beastrider97 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 My friend, my dad, and I are going to get them. I am counting down the seconds to opening day! Quote

Yeah, I'm hoping they have XXL available for me. I'm working my way down to XL, but not there yet! Quote
Diamondback FOF Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I am counting down the seconds to opening day! Roughly 1,547,900 seconds left! Quote
