tourist

Featured Replies

i know they come to the park to have fun like anyone else but they are annoying sometimes how clueless they are about stuff happening . or they stop and just stand lookin at sumtn like they are the only ones there . anyone else agree with me? as in tourist, i mean maybe 2 times a year. i went almost every weekend last year so like around 40 times

^^GP'ers...can't live with 'em, can't live without them (or else KI would close!! ;) )

In any event, just do like you would with a screaming 2 year-old at Culver's...ignore them and tune them out.

Also, IMO, don't talk to a GP'er as if they're a fellow enthusiast, because they're not, they have no idea the difference between Intamin and B&M, and they likely still don't know SOB doesn't have a loop!!

Oh yeah, more than likely they go to KI once a year and that's it!

I went like 20 or more times last year and I still like to sit and observe the people, rides, and all the sights that make KI special. I do get aggravated by people that hold places in line, and allow others to skip through the wait to catch up with them. I hate kids climbing on rails in line. I hate nasty smelling sweaty people in lines. I hate when i am in a line then a ride stops (of course everyone does), i hate beer prices, hmmmm i hate memorial day weekend when the park is stacked out to the highway. I hate when they host the christian concert weekend its just plain annoying sooo many reasons. Thats it i love most everything else. I totally love halloweekends its worth the cost of the season pass price alone.

These people are the people whose money helped to make Diamondback possible. Same for Firehawk, and every other ride in the park all the way back to Racer. Cut them a break. You, too, were a tourist once.

Yeah I think a tourist is just one trip. I only get to go about ten days a year because I live 2 hours away. I wish I could go as much as you do.

You'd be surprised how much my visits to Kings Island vary from year to year...I've been in the high forties, and I have as visited as little as once over the years. One year, I went to Kentucky Kingdom more than 40 times...of course that was conversion year...

Honestly, I think it takes a certain level of maturity to be able to attend an amusement park and just sit and appreciate the place as a whole.

There have been many times when I have gone to Kings Island not to ride rides, but just to enjoy the atmosphere. Same with Disney parks. There were times when I would go any of the 4 Disney parks just to try to observe subtle details. At Magic Kingdom I could spend 7 hours and only ride the riverboat and the train. Hollywood Studios, I could sit and watch the "Citizens of Hollywood" “streetmosphere” for hours. Epcot; World Showcase could consume an entire day for me. And Animal Kingdom; well I would say the great majority of people barely get a taste of what Animal Kingdom has to see and to. How many know where the tigers are. What about the lemurs or gorilla's are.

Same with Kings Island. I have gone to Kings Island simply to ride the Eiffel Tower, the Train, and to sit and watch trains go through The Vortex, etc. To me there is nothing like a warm summer night in Coney Mall. Not even riding rides, just watching and listening. You cannot fake that kind of atmosphere.

So call me a "tourist" because I don’t go to the parks just for the rides. Like I said in another thread, if I do go to the park on opening day, I'll probably not try to ride Diamondback because that is not a priority of mine.

Also like The Interpreter said, these are the people that come with their family and spend the money that make park improvements possible.

C'mon, don't sugarcoat it. tell us how you really feel!

Ohh one last big ole' hate was last year when it was late summer nice and hot and we go to ride the scrambler and we notice this horrendous smell, as we spin round and round the smell gets worse and worse hitting us in the face. So the ride ends every rider onboard is very well disgusted. So I ask the operator " what is that smell" they state.."ohh we had a dead raccoon under the ride... WHAT!!!!!!!
