Tried to ride The Crypt 3 times on Saturday.

Made it to anteroom once before it went down.

Is this common?

Went back Sunday, with kids, and didn't even try.

Anybody else have luck with it?

From my own experience, this is unfortunately very common for this ride. Each time we went last season the ride was not functional (out of 4 visits at different times of the season).

The good news? You didnt miss anything.

Usually it has all kinds of problems until about half way through the season. Then its open about half the time.

I was only there on opening day, and from what I can tell it was only open for a VERY short period of time. However I was able to get on it. I really enjoyed it while it was open though!

We managed to snag a ride on Friday, but Saturday and Sunday it seemed to be broken down non-stop. At least it was every time I walked past it.

If this doesn't change, I predict a very short future for that ride. Cedar Fair does NOT like closed attractions. Not even a little.

Well on the bright side you could fit a really nice dark ride inside of The Crypt's building. That gives me an idea for a new thread. If the Crypt were to be removed what would you like to see put inside its building.

On opening day it was open the whole time I waited in it's queue and I rode twice. But it's common for it to break down.

Well I rode it on Sat as soon as the park opened my friend works in the antechamber of the crypt and said Sunday it was closed 5 hours b.c it was leaking hydraulic fluid.

As much fun that I have on The Crypt, I wouldn't really mind seeing it go if it meant getting a better ride there. The Crypt breaks down a lot, and the theming in the ride chamber sucks. I only like it due to A) I really miss TRTR and B ) the quick thrill it gives. However it doesn't matter if the ride is fun if it is hardly ever open. I would love to see them tear down the building and put in a Jump2 or even smaller less thrilling flat ride. I just don't understand how Kings Dominion got away with only removing the "Triangles" from the movie; they got to keep their monkey statues, their giant head statue laying in the water that the flames shoot out of, and even the music! We however, get almost EVERYTHING taken out of our ride.....

Sad to say but this is very true (in my opinion). Top Spins were always my favorite at the fair and I liked the one at Knott's, but the Crypt is just boring. I think they are too afraid of it breaking down to put a fun/intense program on it.

If they did remove the Crypt I'd like to see them keep the building and build a new dark ride inside.

I've only managed to ride the crypt once this season (Granted, I have only been to the park twice). Is it just me or does the ride program seem shortened to anyone else? I hadn't been on it in a long time but it felt like they cut 1/3 of the ride out.

They DID take some of the seats out, tee hee.

or even just remove it and replace it with a regular top spin with two gondolas (sp?) insted of one

yea, their ride names are right up there with the ones like Drop Tower (after a year the name still bugs me, but i call it by it's right name)

Did the park know that before they bought it? Or did that fact to light during testing? How did Huss pitch it to KI "We have this really fun ride, so now we think we can make it bigger and boring, while having more maintenance problems."

so has huss made an effort to make a better working giant top spin, or do they still offer the same model that was first bought by a park?

I am quite sure they would discuss this with any park looking into purchasing one. These types of rides are produced on a customer by customer basis...it's not like they keep one or more in stock.

so have they ever talked to the park about replacing the crypt with something new, such as when Vortex replaced The Bat?

If they have, neither party would be talking about it...those types of discussions are kept very, very quiet, for obvious reasons.

^yea, but i would really like to see it happen, well as long as it isn't replaced with a king kong

I would be a little sad to see The Crypt go, but there are memories. Besides it's had a good run and in its state maybe it's time to retire. Another ride I would like to see besides a Huss Giant Jump 2 is a ride like Sky Swat.
