rotag Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 i recall when i was there on the 25th seeing the floral clock gone. right before i noticed it i was watching a street magician bend a fork with his mind. which was neat by the way. now is it really gone... ...was it just a long day and my eyes playing tricks on me... ...or was it the magicians doing? someone let me know, please. violakat03 Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 (edited) I think they plant the floral clock later in May. Like around Memorial Day. It still had the planter boxes in it when I walked past it, just no plants. And the real answer is ... there is no fork. Edited April 30, 2009 by violakat03 Quote
rotag Posted April 30, 2009 Author Posted April 30, 2009 thats even better cause i touched the fork with my own two hands and it felt real. Quote
Mr. Christopher Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I wouldn't worry at all... there are still more things for the landscapers to put out for the season. Quote
XGatorHead 8904 Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I was quite upset my first several visits last year when they didn't have the floral clock. I was afraid that CF was going to do away with it. But they made me happy in May when they put it in. So I wouldn't worry about it too much right now. Quote
BoddaH1994 Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I always get the "hey, is that gone??" thought in my head at the beginning of the season, but everyone above is right -- historically the floral clock and calendar have been installed in May. Quote
CoastersRZ Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 And part of the late debut of that feature may in fact be due to the chance for late April frosts that could harm those plants. As a side note, last year there was a slight change to the floral calendar. Up through 2007, it had the original Kings Island logo in it. Last year, there was no Kings Island lettering or logo in the floral calendar. Quote
MarketingExpress Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 The floral clock and calendar usually make their debut right around when the park opens daily for operation. Quote

Jasper Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 The floral clock is beautiful whenever it is planted and maintained well. I love how people who have never been just stop and stare at it and are like oh wow how beautiful. Quote
The Interpreter Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I've always loved how it openly defies a nearly iron clad rule of casinos and theme parks. Never remind a guest of the time...they may leave. Kings Island did a number of things differently. I am also stunned that it has survived owner after owner, park marketing philosophy after park marketing philosophy. Think about it, how any other clocks have you seen in other similar parks? There are very few. Quote
gigacoaster2k Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 The nostalgic side of me loves that flower clock. It's been there for as long as I can remember. It looks especially pretty from the Eiffel Tower. Quote

The Interpreter Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Ah...spring...uh...time! Terpy, running for the door Quote
BoddaH1994 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 As someone stated earlier, they probably don't put it out until they're pretty sure there won't be any more frosts. Quote
The Interpreter Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Yes...someone did say that. I wonder who... Terpy, still running for the door..or is it gate? Quote
Beast79 Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Thanks to Ohio's roller coaster spring Time weather the floral clock and other floral creatures wait until mid may to come out and enjoy the sun shine. Quote
rypie91d Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 That rings a bell! Speaking of bells, Terpy also told Kitten and I that the Bell that is near the Floral Clock and Grand Carousel is also to be put up soon. We snapped a picture of it without the bell hanging and is in Kitten's PTR from last weekend. Quote
