Let me make sure i'm reading this right...

You saw dirt and you immediately think we're getting a new roller coaster? I can look out my window and see dirt, maybe i'm getting a new roller coaster!

But yes, as Skater said, I highly doubt we'll be getting anything new anytime soon after Diamondback.

The worker probably said what they did because they are not an official spokesman for the park and isn't allowed commenting such matters.

I think you are getting a little ahead of yourself on this one, as others have said we just got a brand new multi-million dollar coaster, it will probably be some time before another is built.

I would say Cedar Fair will not be installing any coasters at KI for atleast the next 5 years. Having installed Firehawk and then the $22 mil spent on DB I don't see anything major in the next 5 years coaster wise. I would look for continued improvements throughout the park, new shows and maybe a few flats thats about it.

I believe Nemo is right.

Could be dirt for a event that is coming up.

Very true. The ASA/ BMX type skateboarding and biking event is coming up. A lot of the biking events for that are done on dirt, so the dirt could be used to build the ramps and other things.

Also, if they were planning a coaster for 2011 (we're NOT getting one in 2010, I can guarentee you 99.99999% we're not), then I dobt they would start this early. You know how much land Diamondback cover and all of the preparation they had to do for it, well, that didn't start even until October of 2007. And Diamondback is HUGE. If they were to build a coaster even the size of Diamondback, then they wouldn't even start until the end of this operating season. The dirt you saw is NOT because of a new coaster coming to KI.

I wish it was, but it isn't :( .

Don't you think five years is a loooong time. I would say thrre, maybe four at the very most. I'm not saying it would be a huge, expensive, state-of-the-art coaster, but I think KI WILL get a coaster before five years is up. I would say it would be five years, if, and only if, KI gets a flat ride or two in two or three years, or four to possibly five years if there's more than one flat. Then, I think it will be five or six years before a new coaster is dropped at KI.

I say a nice flat would fit the bill in 2011... I don't think we'll even get anything in 2010. ( look at Cedar Point and Maverick.) A ride like Skyhawk at CP would be nice, but I can ride that there. Something new and unique would be awesome. We already have one of the best coasters in the states... how about one of the best flats in the states. (Delirium and Drop Tower are good lets aim for that again)

Id rather it was be a coaster. Im not that into flat rides. The only one I somewhat like is Drop Tower. If the others were taken out tomorrow I wouldnt miss them.

I think you'd miss them more than you estimate.

One option - How many people are in line for those flats that would now be in line for the coasters?

Second option - How many people who don't ride coasters would decide to not come to the park. This would lead to KI losing money and less future investment, etc...

They've had that patch there since last year. At first we thought it had a chance at being something, but now we know it was probably just a landfill for the dirt from swan lake. Right now they store mulch and stuff back there. The park fence is pretty close to SOB and the distance out to there from the end of Action Zone is a decent walk, so I doubt we will see anything there in a long time. Action Zone is overdue for a ride though. Every other area has gotten something since the last Zone installment. We could see something over in Action Zone within the next few years.

No I dont think 5 years is a long time to go without a new coaster especially after the instalation of DB and Firehawk along with the looming debt issues Cedar Fair has as a whole. Like I mentioned earlier I would expect some new shows, flat rides, and dinning improvements at the park over the next 5 years.

There's been periods of time of 4-5 years between coaster additions. KI didn't add any more coasters since opening until 1977 with the Demon. Then the 80s - even though The Bat opened in '81, King Cobra was the first real successful coaster to be added since The Beast. There were also other 4 year breaks: 1987 Vortex - 1991 Adventure Express, 2001 Reptar - 2005 Stunt Coaster. With Diamondback being such a hit, I think it'll easily satisfy the masses for the next few years. I see it 2014 at earliest when there's a noteworthy coaster to be added. Flat rides and water park slides I think will come in the nearer future. Something next year? Dunno...

And where would they put it?

Flight Deck is not a "must ride" for me when I go, it's more of a "waste of time". I really don't understand why people believe Flight Deck is going to remain for years to come, and have such high praise for it. I say it's gone in 5 years.
