Hard Rock Park Creators File Suit

Featured Replies

A very close friend of mine lives in Myrtle Beach. He owns a shop right across the street from the park and has done a lot of work for them (both HRP & FMP). He told me that the guy that was behind opening the HRP is a real tool. He has a track record of staring projects that then fail. He still ends up making $$$ but leaves a trail of losses for others.

He also told me that FMP has a ton of money behind them. He said that the money people are all Russian. I guess they are also building a Freestyle park in Moscow.

As to the park itself, I would skip it this year. From what my friend said, there is only 1 coaster that is worth riding. He also told me that they will never have a tall coaster since the park is on the flight path for the airport. Led Zep is only 155'. I have no idea if this is true, but local zoning can be a very strange thing.

I dont mind if a coaster is tall or not. I think they just need to fun. I don't think Kings Island has a height limit and Mason lets them get away with pretty much whatever they want.

Judge Refuses To Keep Freestyle Music Park From Opening:

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A federal judge has refused to delay the reopening of the former Hard Rock Park in South Carolina while a trademark infringement lawsuit proceeds.

U.S. District Judge Stewart Dalzell said Friday putting the Myrtle Beach park's relaunch on hold "would be catastrophic and probably fatal to the new park."

A corporation organized by the park's original owner has sued the new owners. HRP Creative Services says FPI MB Entertainment hasn't done enough to change rides and attractions and is taking advantage of the founders' creative ideas.

Freestyle Music Park opens Saturday....

Note: This does not decide the merits of the case, only that the plaintiffs cannot get a temporary injunction to stop the park from opening...the case continues...
