standbyme
An interesting poll…I voted “yes, i think there interesting”. The Trip Report section is one of my favorite areas of this site…nothing like living vicariously thru others! I have also found it puzzling that some (in my opinion) good trip reports do not get noticed while other lesser ones (once again, in my opinion) get tons of comments…who can figure? I TRY to leave a comment on any of the reports that I read…I think that is the least I can do after someone has taken so much time to type them out. I will say that the ones that I find the most interesting are the ones that are based around something “different” that happened to the writer at the park that day…the ones that “bore me” are the ones that simply state how many times that someone rode each ride…I could “invent” a report like that from my home here in Illinois without even going. (The exception to this rule is if someone marathoned a ride…that can be interesting.) I think it goes without saying that Photo Reports are my favorite…but even ones without them can be great…and just like I have favorite recording artists, I have favorite Trip Report authors…people that you just know wouldn’t post a bad report! I believe it was Jesse/Avatar who posted a long time ago an observation that I also unfortunately find to be true…a negative report gets more response than a positive one…which I find sad. So, to anyone who takes the time to write up a report, thanks…and if you don’t get many replies don’t take it personal!
The Interpreter
Well, there was this New York Times reporter who apparently invented his trip reports to Great Adventure, even reporting that he rode Batman and Robin: The Chiller during a year when it didn't open. He later was fired...for inventing other stories...
Beast79
I like all trip reports but I do like the ones with pictures.
standbyme
He later was fired...for inventing other stories... Unless of course it was the same writer using a different pen name writing the article about an author being fired for inventing stories! rotag
Sounds like a story of Stephen King vs. Richard Bachmen.
maverick2007
I like them! For me it's a way to be at the parks even though I can't be.
flightoffear1996
I will usually read them but just skim them.
Diamondback FOF
I read most of the trip reports. I especially like the ones with pictures . But I read ones without pictures, too. I don't sometimes don't read the ones if they don't seem interesting to me, although I do read most.
Kawana
I read nearly all of the Trip Reports that people take the time to post. Every report I read either teaches me about KI, or helps me learn about the members of KIC. If you write 'em, I'll read 'em. For a while there I was getting pretty cranky about mine not having many or any replies but now I really don't care. If something interesting happens, I'll let you all know. If not, I'll still let you all know because, well, I like to share.
Beast1979
I really enjoy reading other trip reports. Yes, I'll admit, ones with pictures reel me in a lot faster, but I do read normal Trip Reports too. I ususally read Trip Reports from a day that I was there too (To get someone else's perspective on an experience), and sometimes from days I didn't go to see what went on and whatnot. I prefer Trip Reports from other parks or during events, because normal trips to Kings Island can sometimes get boring (Unless the author is a fantastic writer or photographer, which I've seen before). I've been told my Ptr's are good, but I actually prefer some other trip reports over mine. Jesse's (Avatar) trip reports are fantastic, and I really like Gator's KI adventures. Speaking of which, my CoasterMania! Trip Report should be up sometime today.
cassie_KY
I read all the trip reports. I used to be real shy about posting on here, but that is getting better as the days pass. I also like to post trip reports. Some of mine have nothing to do with parks, but I think they are interesting and if I like what I did, someone on here may want to do it too?? And yes, I am SO guilty of seeing how many views I get!
TheCryptRaider
I read the TR's sometimes, and sometimes I don't. I usually always look at PTRs, because they are just a lot easier to look through and more appealing. I really love Kat's (violakat03) PTR/VTRs, Angie's (gigacoaster2k) PTRs and her occaisonal VTR, and Jackson's (Beast1979) PTRs. Speaking of which, my CoasterMania! Trip Report should be up sometime today. YES! I'm excited!
