Expected Crowd on July 4th

Compare that to "Nights of Fire" under Paramount. The crowds were so huge they actually placed barricades to prevent crowd movement during the fireworks. After the park sold, the event was scrapped thus taking one of the busiest sales days for the park and apparently scrapping that too. I was at the park Thursday and saw two military vehicles.....no banners, stars or flags (except for the flag pole). I intentionally stayed away because I expected crowds. Too bad for the park if crowds didnt show up...big crowds on the 4th, means mo money for the park!

Nights of Fire was much more heavily advertised, too, as I remember; and occurred before the economy went south, and gas prices went north, so there was a lot more discretionary spending available for visiting amusement parks. Additionally, during the preceding decade, Ohio sustained a noticeable decline in population (1.6% growth in the last census, vs. the national average of 9.6%). There could be many other factors, sure, but crowds aren't what they used to be around here.

Also, the Fourth feels like the kind of holiday where a lot of families celebrate in their backyards, vs. hitting the road.
