markr
Shhh, I forgot to say don't spread the word around that park usually not busy on holidays.
upstop
Compare that to "Nights of Fire" under Paramount. The crowds were so huge they actually placed barricades to prevent crowd movement during the fireworks. After the park sold, the event was scrapped thus taking one of the busiest sales days for the park and apparently scrapping that too. I was at the park Thursday and saw two military vehicles.....no banners, stars or flags (except for the flag pole). I intentionally stayed away because I expected crowds. Too bad for the park if crowds didnt show up...big crowds on the 4th, means mo money for the park!
Thrill_Biscuit
Nights of Fire was much more heavily advertised, too, as I remember; and occurred before the economy went south, and gas prices went north, so there was a lot more discretionary spending available for visiting amusement parks. Additionally, during the preceding decade, Ohio sustained a noticeable decline in population (1.6% growth in the last census, vs. the national average of 9.6%). There could be many other factors, sure, but crowds aren't what they used to be around here. Â Also, the Fourth feels like the kind of holiday where a lot of families celebrate in their backyards, vs. hitting the road.
markr
Would not be concerned about big crowds not showing up on holidays. Has been like that for years and KI ( and CP) have both survived and will continue to survive.
The Interpreter
Cedar Fair has been in charge more than nine years now. Where does the time go?
