Family Outraged After Quadriplegic Marine Denied Free Admission to Michigan Amusement Park

Featured Replies

While this is not a situation anyone wants to be involved with, the park is right they cannot pick and choose who pays admission. Everyone must pay and just because you dont ride rides, doesn't mean you cannot take advantage of the numerous shows and other activities inside the park. A very dificult situation that was handled as well as expected.

Back in the fall of 2003 my wife and I went on a small vacation just to spend some time up in the Sandusky area and since she was pregnant at the time we decided on not going to Cedar Point. We were up by Marble head and I noticed Dragster was running so I called to see if she could get in for free or if the gave a discount for pregnant women, they explained the policy and we decided on not going because she didn't feel like doing alot of walking.

It's sad to see what has happened to our brave service men and women but it is their policy.

This seems better than the alternative. Parks like Indiana Beach

where there is only a small fee to get in but if You do feel like riding a lot its gonna cost you. I like the idea of paying one price to get in for All the rides and attractions.

I read the news regarding the Marine being refused entry. As stated on other posts, there are other non ride activities to engage in. I would think if it was arranged ahead of time, things would had been different and he and his friend would had been admitted without cost. As a vet myself, I salute him for his service.

One thing that should be learned from this story is to NEVER expect something free. I agree with the posters who said that there are other attraction included in the ticket price than rides.

Indiana Beach has a pay one price wristband. I personally prefer their approach so parents can go out with their kids and not have to pay a lot. It is a little different when there are shows, etc, like at KI, though.

Thanks for the info. I had not been since I was a kid and I just remember my Dad giving me $20 which seemed like it never lasted long. Then we would go to KI and I could ride what ever i wanted without worrying about running out of tickets.
