Jasper
Ok well I went to Cedar Point Thursday and Friday (18th and 19th) and I must say I had the time of my life. Thursday we got to the park at about 11 and stayed til about 8. The day was a bit crowded with rides on everything but Maverick, Iron Dragon, Blue Streak, and TTD. Well the next day we were awoken to the sound of POURING rain outside of our cabin we had rented. We didnt know if we wanted to waste our two day passes and go on a day where the rain would close everything most of the day. We arrive at the park after much contemplating on whether to go or not and get a locker because we were going to Soak City later on in the day. The closest thing open to us was Demon Drop so we ran to it only to see the ride close about 5 feet in front of us due to light precipitation that stopped in about 2 minutes time. Well we then immediately thought the day was going to be horrible. Then all at once the rain stopped and the sun didn't exactly come out but more less lightened everything up. Sure enough there goes Maxair a swingin' and Wicked Twister a twistin'. We ran over to Maxair to find no one in line and got on that. Then over to Wicked twister to find an empty station. This day is getting a whole lot better. After this I lost track of everything. The rest of the day was a blur to me. The park was empty and the rides were all walk ons. I do remember though going to Soak City and riding all the slides in just under 30 minutes. We then saw a storm rolling in so we headed back into the park. As soon as we enter through the Resort Gate they closed down all the rides due to lightning. It started to rain again, blah. So we headed back to our locker to decide if we wanted to wait it out or go home. We decided to wait it out because how many times do you get to go to CP when you live in Richmond Ky? Then wouldn't you believe it, the clouds lifter and we heard the B&M ROAR of Raptor. The park was back open for the rest of the day and there were even less people than there were before. I am going to give each coaster a ride by ride breakdown but I am going to mention one thing. We rode Wicked Twister, Millennium Fore, Maverick, Magnum, and Top Thrill Dragster all in an hour time span. I am not exaggerating, there were literally no lines for anything. This was the least crowded I have ever seen a park in my life. Maverick-We rode it in the front seat and the back seat as well as the middle, 4 rides in all I believe in one day. The front seat on this coaster is the best seat on any coaster out there I am a firm believer. The airtime is insane and the feeling of being lifted out of your seat on the first drop and seeing the track is amazing. Maverick is moving up on Jasper's Top 10. Magnum XL-200-First off, Happy 20th Birthday Magnum!! For 20 years you have been the coaster that ignited the coaster wars, congratulations big guy. Amazing, amazing, amazing ride. The airtime on the camel backs is spectacular and you float for more than 5 seconds on the third hill going into the pretzel turn. Ron Toomer you outdid yourself here, never gets old. Millennium Force-This coaster never ceases to amaze, one of the best first drops out there of any ride, not to mention the overbank at the bottom. The ride never lets up and is gung-ho all the way. I love how open the carts are and how amazing the feeling is going up the hill and seeing everything out there in the park and on the lake. One of my all time favorites. Top Thrill Dragster-Th launch is unmatchable. The ascent is unbearable to some. The descent is pure bliss to a coaster lover. Friday the line never extended out of the station house. Last ride of the trip at night and got to see the whole park lit up and see Hot Summer Lights for a split second. Got a nice on-ride photo since my GF and her sister had never ridden this before and they wanted to show everyone that they did. This ride has definitely cemented its place in coaster riding lore. Wicked Twister-Why does this coaster never have a line. The front and back seats are amazing. The ride ma be short but it packs quite a punch. Defineatley a must ride when you visit the point. Maxair-Same as Delirium except for the fact that you are over the midway on both swings, nevertheless a great thrill ride. Dispatch Master Transport-I didn't even know the ride was open until I heard it roaring and my friend said lets go check it out and sure enough around the corner there is the entrance. They changed it up since the last 8 times I have been to the point. This ride gets overlooked some I think. The ride for the most part is in pitch black and you cannot see anything and the fact that its bobsled makes it twice as good. Raptor-I had never noticed until this specific trip, how much force Raptor exerts on your body the whole ride. The first drop is sensational and need I say more except fear the cobra roll. Raptor is amazing and you gotta love to kick that Sandusky sky! Blue Streak-UNDERRATED!! This coaster has tremendous amounts of airtime and it seems like you are out of your seat for the entire ride. Definitely a must ride, for the sheer fact, it was built in 1964, and is the oldest operating coaster at Cedar Point. Iron Dragon-We have Flight Deck, Cedar Point has Iron Dragon. Not a bad little coaster, if it has no line you have to check it out. The area over the lagoon when the fog is in is a very cool experience. Wildcat-I don't have much to say about Wildcat, watch out for the stop at the end of the ride. Ouch!! Demon Drop- UNDERRATED!! Another underrated ride in the park. Offers a great view of the parking lot and gives more of a sense of freefall than any other ride I have ever ridden. Definitely have to check this ride out. Mantis-Being one of the only 3 stand up coasters I have ever ridden, it is in my top 2, right behind Chang. The drop is very disorienting due to the fact that you are standing and the Incline Loop, Vertical Loop, and Dive Loop provide you with some one of a kind feelings that no other coaster can give you. I.E. Charlie Horses. Skyhawk-UNDERRATED!! One of the best thrill rides I have ever been on. This is the only ride ever to make me feel as if I were going to fall out. The swing where your facing the sky is amazing. The feeling of coming out of your seat is there all the way. This ride is definatley a cant miss. Try not holding on the whole ride and see how you fare. Mean Streak-If it has no line ride it, don't wait more than 10 minutes for it. The trims have absolutely killed the ride ad made it not even enjoyable. Bt the structure is still awe-inspiring. Cedar Creek Mine Ride-Ah, another good ole Arrow ride. The drop over the water and the helix at the end are about the only good parts. But its still a classic. Gemini-This coaster has a first drop to die for. The feeling of weightlessness is abundant on this ride. Plus it races more often than our own Racer does. The bunny hills also provide some great airtime. I fell in love with this ride 7 years ago when I was scared of Millennium Force and to this day I still love it. Corkscrew-The ride goes over the midway during the corkscrews and lets everyone see you as you flip head over heels. The drop and the little floater hill are the best two parts of the ride IMO. This ride cannot be missed due to the fact how old it is and that is an instant classic. Power Tower-The Space Shot side is the best side to ride on. The teal side doesn't let you fall far enough before the air catches yo to send you back up. Drop Tower is better in every aspect but the Red Side is not to be missed when you are at Cedar Point. This was my best trip to the Point of my life and I will remember every minute of it. If you have not been to Cedar Point, what are you waiting for? It is truly one of the best Amusement Parks in the world and has all the rides a thrill seeker needs. Thank you for reading! -JaSpEr-
gigacoaster2k
Wow, you really did have an amazing time! That is so awesome that you were that lucky to get that many rides in. I totally agree with you about Blue Streak. It sits in Raptor's shadow and is overlooked so often. I love the air on old Blue, especially in the very back seat. Beast1979
Agree with you on some rides, not so much on others. Either way, glad you had a great time. It's practically impossible not to at Cedar Point, America's Rockin roller coast, ride on!
Jasper
Just curious as to what rides you diasgree with. I love hearing other peoples opinions on rides.
KYJoe
My best trip to Cedar Point was on a rainy day, after the rain cleared up we went back to an empty park. I went the couple of days after memorial day. Maverick was a walk on, they were sending trains out with empty middle seats, Millennium's line was so short, they had the handicap gate open in the station so you did not have to walk around. I started graying out a bit after 5 rides in a row on old milly. I do think the rain policy is a bit much myself, but what can you do other than fill out a comment card at the park op office. The Beast Rider
Mean Streak-If it has no line ride it, don't wait more than 10 minutes for it. The trims have absolutely killed the ride ad made it not even enjoyable. Bt the structure is still awe-inspiring. You sure pegged that one! They are trying their best to do that to The Beast. So far this season, they have done a fantastic job of it, too. Sounds like you picked a really great day to go to the point! Gotta love Millie and Maggie (especially when Maggie is running trimless! )
Jasper
Cedar Point can be so much fun on a crowded day, but then on a non-crowded day it can be just amazing.
gigacoaster2k
Jasper, have you gotten a chance to ride Raptor in the very rear seat? Tom, Kat and I got that chance at CoasterMania, and we were all blown away by how violent (but not rough!) it is in the back seat. Getting yanked through the cobra roll, zero-g roll and all the other elements in the dark was a totally new ride experience.. the three of us are officially addicted to the rear seat of Raptor! Beast1979
Just curious as to what rides you diasgree with. I love hearing other peoples opinions on rides. 1. maXair - Hardly the same as Delirium. Faster, more swings, and a fantastic view of the main midway and Lake Eire. 2. Wildcat - You didn't like the kitty? I found it to be amazingly fun for it's size, and surprisingly fun! 3. Turbo Drop - It destroyes Drop Tower. Turbo drop actually launches you down, and it has several bounces afterwards giving you the feeling of Airtime. My 2 cents on those rides. CedarPointer
I wish I was there that day... TTD hasn't been open at all today (closed around 4pm yesterday), and WildCat is down too.
The Interpreter
I'm glad you had such a great time! Terpy, whose favorite coaster IS Maverick, in the front seat (and ONLY the front seat)...
Dvo
I'm with Beast1979 on this one. Turbo Drop > Drop Tower. Downward launch + longer ride time. Not to mention the much shorter line.
KYJoe
Whats wrong with the back seat of Maverick?
kiruler102
sounds like you had a AWESOME time. i cant wait to go( which it wont be til next year)
The Interpreter
Whats wrong with the back seat of Maverick? If you enjoy it, then do! For me the front seat is where it is at for Maverick. The other rows? I'd rather go to Chuckwagon and eat pizza, thank you very much!
Beast1979
For me Maverick is a great ride, and would be mind blowing if they didn't have those horrible, awful, terrible restraints. Whoose bright idea was that?! "This ride is going to have a lot of quick and fast turns, so lets put this uncusioned bar over their shoulders right at ear level. With the occasional airtime, we will handle that by putting a huge fat bar at their laps, just so that the normally fun airtime will hurt. Oh, and lets throw in a seatbelt just to make checking times longer and overall make the line longer." I know almost all of it is for insurace but come on, really? A T-Bar would have sufficed. The Interpreter
Oh, really? Have you heard of a perilous plunge or two? Or a fall or two from INTAMIN gigacoasters? It seems the ride's designer does not agree with you.
vortexfan
I know almost all of it is for insurace but come on, really? A T-Bar would have sufficed. Ah, I see you're an engineer now.
Beast1979
I ment a T-Bar would have sufficed as far as Ride Experience goes. I never said engineering wise it was right.
The Interpreter
Well, unless something is right engineering wise, the ride is very unlikely to be insurable or certified by the ride inspection authorities in Ohio or any other state...so how would a t-bar suffice? Safety first. Safety Always. Safety All Ways. At Cedar Fair, safety is paramount.
Beast1979
^Pun Completely intended, I presume? Anyhow, if Maverick and all of the new rides from Intamin got the new restraint system, why didn't the older ones switch to the new ones? If a 105 foot ride needs OTSRs, Lap Bars, and a Seat belt according to the manufacturer, then why doesn't a 310 foot ride need them?
The Interpreter
The older ones were significantly modified, some in ways that some riders say dramatically adversely affect the riding experience. From Perilous Plunge to Millennium Force to the then Supermen: Rides of Steel, all were modified, the latter most drastically...

The Interpreter
I see you have seen fit to bump this thread. For those who wonder why Intimidator has the restraint system planned for it that it does, I commend reading this thread again...
