IndyGuy4KI
IndyGuy4KI PTR 6/23/09 I pulled out of the driveway at 6:50 am on the west side of Indy. It was looking quite dark out but was not raining. Stopped in Shelbyville and got some breakfast. Got back on the highway for the rest of the way to KI, I never know if I am going to hit any traffic issues on the way, but thankfully it was smooth sailing. I was glad that I had not gotten into any rain, but ran into some good rain when I got on 275 and drove the Cincinnati Mills Mall. It rained all the way to KI, but once I got there is was a very light rain and by the time I got up to the metal detectors it had pretty much stopped. I got in line at the detectors at 9:12. While waiting in line I ran into “fan of beast” I then texted “Oldiesmann” to see where he was at for he and “CoasterRZ” had planned a meet up for ERT. We all met up at DB and the four of us got 5 rides in on DB before the 10 AM running of the bulls. Robbie (CoasterRZ) noticed while ridding DB that The Beast trains were still in the storage shed so it was not running during ERT. After ERT we headed towards The Beast hoping they had it running by then, but it was still not open. We decided to hit BLSC and got a font car ride. Robbie was in the driver’s seat for he had seat 1-1, I got shotgun in seat 1-2. We then headed to Vortex. While getting in the queue I noticed an issue with a phone. Take a look. We then headed to Flight of Fear and had a good ride, this is fan of beast’s favorite to ride so I think he enjoyed it. We headed further up Coney Mall and noticed only Red racer was running and it had a line so we skipped it and headed to AE. We then headed to Flight Deck, we were in queue in car 1 of the next train and as our luck would have it, the train had just left the station made it ¾ of the way up the lift and stopped. We decided to wait it out and see how long it would take for we had make the long walk back there and did not want to leave without a ride or two. Five mangers showed up to the ride for some reason? I could understand 1 or 2. Soon after maintenance showed up, one went to a sensor and waved a shop rag at it and got the ride up again. We got our ride in and decide on a second ride since we were back there. We went for the back of the train this time. We were about 3 rides out and the ride stopped again. This time they brought a broom and a glove and cleaned the sensor, ran 5 empty trains before we could get on. We all agreed that you got more swinging action out of FD in the front of the train. We then headed to Delirium, but it was down as well. It looked like they were just running test cycles for there was no maintenance so we decided to wait there for a test cycle or so and see what happened. They ran it once and then on the second time we noticed that it did not complete its cycle so we figured that it was not going to be up real soon. We headed towards Red Racer and got a ride on it in the back. They were actually racing now and we won! Fan of beast decided to head home for lunch and though he might catch up with us later. Robbie, Michael (Oldiesmann), and I decided to eat at Riverton Junction. As we are making out way to the back of Coney Mall, we noticed that the dodgems were down and they were buffing the floor. Pics below. We had a good lunch at the Junction. They now have regular plates, plastic cups, and silverware, not paper goods. They must have been spending too much money on all that? We then decided to get back in queue for DB waited about 30 minutes, but totally worth the ride. This was Robbie’s 100th ride. We then were heading towards The Beast and we were talking about Crypt’s cycle, since I had not ridden it with the new cycle we stopped to ride it. As we were walling up to the “cave” entrance a DB train went by above us and a cell phone fell onto the sidewalk in the Crypt queue. I picked the phone up and it was in 2 pieces, but the other piece was just the battery. It looked like the screen was fine so Michael and I got the battery back in and figured out how to get it on. I then looked for a contact of home. I called the home contact and a lady answered. I told her that a phone had fallen from DB and I had it. She said her daughter was at the park and she had a friend with her. I told her to have her friend call my personal cell and then we could meet up. We found that the first waiting area of the Crypt is now queue line, not a waiting area. The girls had called me and they were going to wait at the Crypt entrance for us to come out. We got our not so thrilling ride on the Crypt and we returned the phone to the girls when we got off. Mark down KIC for saving a phone from the infamous cell phone box in DB queue! We then went to Beast, and found that the queue was almost full. We decided we wanted to ride it and waited for the queue. Took almost an hour to get through the queue and ride. We did have a good ride on The Beast, I was really needing a ride on The Beast. We then headed to Vortex. Robbie and I got a 6-1 and 6-2 ride on Vortex, and Michael got a 5-1 ride. It was starting to sprinkle and we noticed that Dodgems were not busy so we got in it’s queue to get out of any rain that might come by. While in the queue it was raining out towards DB, but the sun was shining on Racer the other way. It was really weird. After we got off it had stopped. We then went up in the Eiffel Tower and looked at the park. Robbie was going to go home for he had to work the next day, but we talked him into another DB ride before he went home. It took about 30 minutes to get through the queue. Again we got in the front car of DB. We saw Robbie out of the park and Michael and I went and grabbed a Coke for we were thirsty. We then saw that Delirium was open and rode it. We rode AE again since we were right there and had girls behind that literally screamed from the time they released us from the station till we returned. I don’t mind people screaming, but that got a little annoying. We rode Blue racer since we had ridden red racer earlier. We lost the race that time. Michael wanted to ride some flats so we rode Monster, and Shake Rattle & Roll. We then headed back to The Beast for another ride. It took about 30 minutes to get through the queue. We had a good ride on Beast. It was now after 9pm so we wanted to finish the night on DB. We met up with CoastersN Sich in the DB queue and we got 2 rides in before the park closed. We got 2 awesome night rides in on DB, it was a great way to end the night. I enjoyed ridding and spending the day with a few of my fellow KIC members and hope to meet up with you guys and others again soon! I pulled out of the KI parking lot at 10:30 PM and got home at 12:40 AM. I hope you enjoyed my TR! AE -2 Beast – 2 BLSC - 1 Crypt – 1 Delirum - 1 Diamondback - 9 Dodgem – 1 Eiffel Tower - 1 FD – 2 FOF – 1 Moster - 1 Racer – 2 Shake, Rattle & Roll - 1 Vortex – 2 Total -

DBru
Great TR! I was at the park that day, as well. Did you notice during that short rain that all of the coasters kept cycling with empty trains?
The Interpreter
It's nice that they buffed the bumper car floor. Of course, at most parks, the bumper cars move fast enough that by late July the rust is all gone...
IndyGuy4KI
Great TR! I was at the park that day, as well. Did you notice during that short rain that all of the coasters kept cycling with empty trains? I thought I saw you in the AE queue as Oldiesmann and I were getting on, but I could not remember your screen name and so I did not holler out to you. Did you ride AE that day? With my luck it would not have been you and would have felt silly!

Of course, at most parks, the bumper cars move fast enough that by late July the rust is all gone... Although, it would have been better if they would have done that before the park opened instead of 1 pm in the afternoon, but I am guessing there was a reason for that? IndyGuy4KI
Were the girls hot? I did not ask them, but they were sitting in the sun when we met up with them.
