Vortex Restraints

I hope they never switch to lap bars a la FoF on Vortex. Those lap bars kill my legs, and that's only after I barely squeeze it over my knees. Vortex's restraints have been the same since 1989 (except the seatbelts) and they've yet to lose a passenger. As far as I'm concerened, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Don't even speak of those awful restraints. Every time those crunch down onto the forbidden areas I wonder, Why? Is it truly necessary? Why?

I love the Flight of Fear restraints, despite being almost like coffins, they aren't uncomfortable and cause little pain for me, but then again, I'm not the one who makes the 76257 feel small!

Because once upon a time a long time ago at a Six Flags park, a patron exited the train to go to the bins on the exit side, the restraints were checked and the patron (we can't say rider) wanted to be a rider and attempted to get in the leaving train and sat on top of the restraint. Somehow, this was unnoticed by the ride operators. The patron did not successfully return to the station. And all Six Flags Arrow coasters at the time with OTSR's like those got those big loops attached to the outside, so you cannot sit above the restraint.

Someone reading this may doubt this. Here's a vague reference to the incident:

...Sadly, a few accidents occurred on at Six Flags parks in the 1980's. In 1987 a woman was killed on the Lightin' Loops shuttle coaster. The operator did not check all of the restraints and the passenger fell out and was killed. ...

That's only logical, since it is part of the old Lightnin' Loops, and operates in what was once a Six Flags Theme Parks park, though it was never a "flagged" property. The park no longer belongs to Six Flags.

Similar Arrow restraints in other park chains and parks got yellow tape or some other indicator so it would be very, very, very obvious that a rider was in fact sitting under and not atop the restraint.

And that GASM you showed? Many of those who are accustomed to riding Vortex find it very, very rough and painful. Many of those who are accustomed to riding GASM find Vortex at KI to be very, very rough and painful.
