Death at PKI

Featured Replies

Karen Krekeler, a mother of four young children from Bethel, had been to Kings Island many times and never had any problems in the past, WLWT Eyewitness News 5's Sheree Paolello reported exclusively Tuesday. And she'd never any heart problems in her past, but on Friday, while riding the rollercoaster Top Gun, she suffered a heart attack and died.

Preliminary autopsy reports showed that Karen Krekeler's heart may have been enlarged and the excitement of the ride, coupled with high blood pressure, may have caused the heart attack. But more tests are being done, Paolello reported. Her funeral is Wednesday morning.

This is very unfortunate!! Its weird how things like this happen. Unfotunately, it looks as though she was unaware of medical conditions she had. Sadly, had she known of those conditions she would have seen that rides like Top Gun are not recommended for her. Its a tragendy for everyone involved. I wish the family the best.

Yes it is a very sad thing that happened. Ride was back open saturday though so all is okay it seems.

It's a sad thing that events like this have happened so frequently lately, I feel for her family especially her 7 year old son. Very sad.

I also feel for the family, though I do hope that this does not lead to a frivolous lawsuit, like the one concerning the lightning storm.

A lawsuit is unlikely. The 5 fun and saftey guidelines are clearly posted. Looks to me she had heart problems and high blood pressure so theres 2 of em.

She had an inlarged heart and didn't know about it. Alot of us were gonna post about it but we didn't find any news release.

(Don't be surprised it this goes on front page news.)

**EDIT- The death didn't happon at PKI like the title says!

No one died at PKI. The woman died at the hospital. Also she didn't die due to riding TG, she died due to having a heart attack.

Yeah she died later on in the weekend Sunday because a lady from my work her friend knew her and she told me about it. My heart goes out to the family and friends for her.

Regardless of the cause and place of death, my condolences go out to that poor's lady's family and friends.

Our thoughts and prayers will be with the Krekeler family. I wish more could have been done.

And Touched the Face of God"

I found out about it earlier in the weekend because my Supervisor's Mom knew the lady who died. It's sad... my thoughts are with her family.

Wow. I'm speechless. sad.gif All I can really say about this is that I hope the family can cope with this loss. My heart goes out to the Krekeler family as well.

First my heart really goes out to her family and friends. Second I hope the government doesn't get ahold of this and use it like everything else to push for silly guidelines and restrictions on thrill rides.
