Solid Snake Posted August 5, 2003 Posted August 5, 2003 Last Thursday, I think it was the second ride of the day, Tomb Raider was just about to end. It was at the part where it does the final spin. Well in stead of stopping it kept swing aroudn and around and we got a couple more spins. It was cool. We were not really stuck on the ride but we had to swing there until it stopped and the mechs. lined us up with the stairs. I dunno. It is a few days late but I thought it was interesting enought to post. Quote

Losing Streak Posted August 5, 2003 Posted August 5, 2003 It probably just free swings until it stops. That's how it was with Delirium, it free swung for a good 15 minutes, and wasn't rotating the seats. Just swinging. I would have hated to be a person on there. Quote

When i went back in July, TR:TR broke down while i was in the preview room with the movie, it just stopped playing and we heard people screaming in the room where the ride was. They got them down though. Quote

I can read in the front seat, spin on the merry-go-round ten times more than anyone else, and can actually STAND being on boat tours of citys. Being this way ROCKS! No, it was free swinging, I've seen them trying to align it more times than you can fathom, so don't try to tell me what I saw. It was free swinging, meaning the motor was making no noise, and it was just coasting back and forth for a long time, like a pendulum. It happened a couple times on two consecutive days. I first saw it swinging from about 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock, and it gradually swung less and less as it killed momentum. It took quite a long time for it to stop. Also, in saying it would suck, there were a number of things I was implying. First, the restraints would get uncomfortable after awhile, especially for those of us that are larger than average. Second, some people do have problems with being stuck on a ride, i.e. sea-sickness or anxiety attacks. Third, it's a waste of time to sit and free swing for a long time, especially when all you're seeing is the same thing over and over again because it stops spinning. Losing Streak Posted August 8, 2003 Posted August 8, 2003 I would assume (and I am assuming, no knowledge at all) that the balancing weights would be heavier for that exact reason, so that if the motors were to fail, riders wouldn't be stuck upside-down. Just a friendly assumption though. Quote
