I don't understand this ride. Why have they had so many problems. Sorry I haven't been following.

Don't be fooled, I'm sure within a month or two a new problem will appear and will cause it not to be ready for 2010 opening day, and throughout the season other problems will happen and cause it to supposed to be open in 2011. I really do hope it opens soon though, me and some friends have been planning a 2010 trip and as of now we have an east coast trip (KD, SFA, BGE, Carowinds, ect.) But if that ends up costing too much we may do a Pennsylvania trip (Kennywood, Dutch Wonderland, Hershey Park, Dorney Park, SFGAdv, Knoebels, Waldameer, and maybe some others?) And I'd love for Flying Turns to be open and get to ride it, but I don't count on it being open.

Imagine if a major park did this.

No, I meant how people have been saying this would be the best new ride of whatever year it happened to be. Of course, it's been delayed again, and again, and again, and again....

I have to agree with an earlier comment, what is the big hold up? I mean really, you have a problem with the track, you order new pieces. Cedar Point did it in 2 weeks. You have a problem with the Structure, you fix it! Paramount's Kings Island did it in a month.

You got a problem with the trains, you get new ones! It took Knoebels.....4 years?!?!? Really!!!!???

Yea that is pretty outrages 4 years for trains. I mean look at Holiday World and Voyage there going from a good classic looking coaster train. To a very steel looking one that is sure to give a good thrill.

Uh...this is a Flying Turns. No one alive today has ever designed and built an operating Flying Turns. Few alive have even ridden one. The last one closed more than 35 years ago!

The trains basically navigate a chute shaped track without benefit of rails for much of the course. The smallest of errors and the trains can turn over. Years ago, Mr. John Norman Bartlett was famous for his Flying Turns, which he designed and sold and built with John Miller. (Rcdb.com, usually almost always right, but not always, credits Miller for all of them and says not a word about Bartlett, which is a shame).

Even back then, the trains occasionally turned over, with occupants aboard. Back then, most riders got out, giggled, had a tale to tell their friends, and went on with life. Nowadays, many would likely sue.

So, this Flying Turns must be even more safe and secure than those of old. It is a work of trial and error...and try again.

NO major park would even think of building such a thing.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is more than a little chance that Flying Turns will NEVER open to the public. Ever.

It probably will, but only when it is ready.

And, as Dick Knoebel has said more than once, it will be ready when it is ready. Not before.
