Browntggrr Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 http://travel.latimes.com/daily-deal-blog/...26+Deal+Blog%29 AquaLoop riders atop a 55-foot tower climb into a see-through capsule and cross their arms as an electronic voice counts down “3, 2, 1.” As a trap door in the floor snaps open, riders plummet down a 40-foot vertical drop and around a near-inverting loop. Traveling at 40 mph, riders experience 2.5 Gs in less than two seconds. Quote
CedarPointer Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Action_Park I have a feeling Terpy may have a lot to say on the subject of Action/Traction/Accident/Death Park. Quote
rotag Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 That will be as fun as a ride on the merry go square. Quote
Coaster Kid Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 How is it the first one there is already a few other looping water slides. Quote
Coaster Kid Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 But fun in some strange weird way. Quote
Dvo Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I love when Action Park comes into the foreground of discussion. It's such a dark subject, and yet somewhat comical at the same time. Quote
74Gibson Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 everyone reading this thread really should Google Action Park. You'll have a very interesting read for sure Quote

Jasper Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 In that video in the article it looks like the loop in the slide is tilted to almost and overbanked curve more less. Quote

I can't help but laugh a little bit at Action Park, and how anything like that would ever survive! Imagine if CF owned it! Quote
CincyMan98 Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 I don't get this.......what if somebody accidentally let go? Edit: This park is real, right? It reminds me of a death park in RCT3. All of their rides gave bad incidents! Quote
Bc9755 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Hmm ... this seems to be another example of a type of ride that should not include a loop. I'm not a fan of enclosed water slides anyway, but this? Put me squarely in the "no" category. Quote
Guest rcfreak339 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Sadly, Action Park is/was very real. Very true. Action Park's waterslides are still around and still operate. Although some of the most famous ones that gave Action Park it's nickname of "Accident Park" aren't. You can visit the site here. http://www.mountaincreekwaterpark.com/index.html Quote
DropZone99 Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 The photo he showed isn't the same slide this park is getting. That one is very dangerous. The one Mt. Olympus and maybe other parks are getting next year is much taller, and it's more of an inclined loop but since you bank so much due to the speed it's an inversion. Quote
CedarPointer Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 The less Action that ends up in that Park, the better. Quote
FriedOreoGirl Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 wow just looking at that makes my claustropohobia anxiety level sky rocket. Quote
Beast79 Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 The inclined looping water slide also has a hatch at the base of the loop just in case someone stops at the bottom, between the first drop and loop. Quote
Touchdown Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Drop Zone, Mt. Olympus is not getting the looping waterslide, Noah's Ark is. Which is good, because Noah's is a better park in general anyways (and has much more slides and a larger waterpark) then Mt. Olympus. Quote

I read about it going to Noah's Ark and I must of been thinking of Hades or something when I was posting this! Thanks for correcting me. Quote
CincyMan98 Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 It just doesn't look real.....I mean, a LOOPING waterslide. The whole park doesn't even look real. Is there even enough speed to go around a full loop - and it's not even connected to anything! Quote
CedarPointer Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 I just think it's an all-around bad idea. They need to have some way of automatically making sure a rider has cleared the loop and entire slide instead of using a timer like some parks do. Quote

That person usually signals up to the guard at the top of the ride to give an all clear. I am sure they do the same thing on the looping rides.... Quote
CedarPointer Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 I've seen timers at parks where the top does not have a view of the bottom (WaTiki indoor waterpark in Rapid City, SD for example). Quote
Diamondback FOF Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 ^^Also, some slides don't have a view of the bottom, so the rider has to pass a certain mark on the slide (marked with tape or something), and then the next person can go. Quote

I have been to a park before though, it was in florida (I forget where so my apologies if no one believes me) but the guard in the pool would hit a button which would (later i found out) turn a red signal green at the top of the ride... so that could be done..... That would never work on this slide, as the rider may pass the mark but still not clear the loop. That can only be done on 100% downhill slides. Quote
