Coney Islander Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I've seen pictures of this odd fixture, some saying that this is is part of Scooby Doo and The Haunted Castle's queue theming... My questions- Was this part of the original Phantom Theater? Is this where the red light comes from, behind the 'boarded up' wall? (Right before the spinning platform) Is it supposed to look like this, or was it somehow damaged? Quote
HTCO Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 The faces were part of Phantom Theater. When they build SDATHC they just put the red lights on the eyes and put up those boards. I don't think there was a exact reason though. Quote
Coney Islander Posted December 18, 2009 Author Posted December 18, 2009 So they just sorta pounded lasers into the existing eyes? No wonder its so horribly damaged! Edit- It looks like they used a jackhammer! Quote
Beast79 Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Looks more like a hack job just thrown into the existing face! Quote
CoastersRZ Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Those busts were original to Phantom Theater. In Phantom Theater`s days, they were not boarded up and did not have red lights in the eyes. Instead, they had blue spot lights shining on them from below. They are actually reverse busts. Ie, the side that is facing the line is actually the inside of the bust, or the side that was up against the fact if a plaster mold was made of your face. The reason for this is the perspective of this makes it look like the busts are following you. Unfortunately, with the transformation to the Haunted Castle, these were boarded up and relegated to only having red eyes. Quote
CedarPointer Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 They're all that way. I have pictures of some of the others, which aren't broken. Quote
LongLiveTheSmurfRide Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 It looks like it's been crying. Poor guy. Quote
Thrill_Biscuit Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 You know, strangely, that picture looks to me like Patrick Swayze as a 'Ferengi' from "Star Trek: The Next Generation," etc. Quote
rotag Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 w/o the boards, it looks more creepy; & like a crap job. Quote
