CoastersRZ
A stretch of Kellogg Avenue in Anderson Township has been renamed Erich Kunzel Way to honor the late Cincinnati Pops conductor. The stretch of road runs from Sutton Road at the City of Cincinnati Anderson Township border (at the Gate two entrance to Coney Island) and runs to the east to Four Mile Road. This stretch includes Riverbend Music Center and Riverdowns. All addresses in the stretch of road will NOT be affected. He even conducted a concert as recently as this past August to commemorate Riverbend`s 25th anniversary.

Coney Islander
Has anyone else heard that The School of Creative and Performing Arts is being renamed in honor of Kunzel?
CoastersRZ
The School itself is NOT being renamed in honor of Erich Kunzel after much debate and protest from current students and alumni from the school. However, the new building that the school is being housed in (which is currently under construction), WILL be named in honor of Erich Kunzel. That is not unlike how Riverbend Music Center is set up. While it is called Riverbend Music Center, the actual name of the pavilion is the Hulbert Taft Jr. Center for the Performing Arts - J. Ralph Corbett Pavilion. CoastersRZ
Very true. Very few people use or even know of the real name of the Riverbend Pavilion. (And yes, the Taft reference is related to Taft Broadcasting who donated the original land upon which Riverbend Music Center sits on). It is not unlike University buildings being named after people. A prime example can be found at the College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning. The addition that was designed by signature architect Peter Eisenmann and opened in 1997 is named the Aronoff Center for Design and Art. It is named after the long time Ohio lawmaker. Elvis's 2nd last performance was also at Cincinnati. His last, Indianapolis!
