OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010

Featured Replies

Plus, to me, it would seem that Kings Island, as of 2010, wants to pretend Son of Beast doesn't exist. To re-route its queue line and draw people up into its station, past the track, into the queue is certainly going to be counterproductive in that sense...

But hey, there's a building there. There's already a queue line, waiting to hold guests. Why not use it?

I don't smell a renovation. What I smell is a park trying to quietly decide a ride's fate without too much backlash. It'll go from "we haven't decided" to "it won't open in 2010" to "it won't operat

  • Just wondering how many more posts there will be on this topic.

  • This is Drachen Fire all over again.

Now that I think about it... I could see it working out. To the drawing board!

It may be possible, but the ramps to the station would not have enough room for "haunting." I think it would be better if they brought guests into the station through SoB's former exit, then scared them in the tunnel on the way out.

Very rough but stay with me.

Also yes Cobra... That is what they would do. Which I don't think would be to difficult.

Well....tricky...tricky tricky tricky...I could see scaring in the que lines, but as Beatle said, the que ramps might be a little hard to scare. And the traffic would be bad, plus that alot of bored they would have to put up to cut off the scaring and people trying to get to Flight Deck.

Last year they closed Flight Deck in the evening. I feel as if the same would happen again this year.

Well darn. That solves my other issue. Well then, maybe it would work. hmmmmm...maybe the final event to "Escape" the haunt is to ride SOB bahaha that would be epic!

What if they were going to close Flight Deck again and use the SoB station to "extend" Club Blood

That is a possible idea. But Club Blood is already pretty long.

There was a conversation today about SOB...

My thoughts?

IT IS GOOD AS GONE. DOES NOT EXIST ANYMORE. DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT 200,000 IN BRAIN DAMAGE LAWSUIT!

Time to move on with the future and get away from the past.

Last year they closed Flight Deck in the evening. I feel as if the same would happen again this year.

I recall Flight Deck being closed in 2008, but thought it remained open during Haunt hours in 2009 - not positive, but seem to remember that.

I am not sure how it would work, but I don't 100% Think they will even use SOB, nor do I 100% think they will NOT use SOB for a Haunt, it just seems odd to have it on a station, how will they work with the gates?

Gates are removable. It's not like they are using it anyway. I see it as a 50 50 shot at this point. I need to get down there and take some photos.

Yes I'm almost positive FD closes at seven on Haunt. So they could use all the queue lines back there.

Something is going on and to say nothing isn't you are blind.

It may have something to do with sob...maybe not.

Good post you can really see the diffrences thanks! (I really mean this not trying to causae any arguments I was having trouble seeing it before)

The small cleared area towards the upper right in the second picture. It is partially obscured by the two small trees. You can see the area perfectly while on Drop Tower.

Yeah, something is going down back there. It may be nothing, or it may be something big. Like We may need a bigger boat, big!

I sure hope we need a bigger boat lol!!

At risk of sounding stupid....

With all the talk of a possible removal of the rose bowl and extending the coaster from there, I have to ask. What is the design purpose of the rosebowl? I always assumed that since it IS Son of Beast they were just trying to do the double helix thing on a larger, more intense scale. Is this the case or is it there just because?

I'm asking because I was wondering, if this was indeed the purpose, if they will maybe change the name of the ride once the RUMORED reconstruction is done? I just assumed that the rose bowl and the double helix are what they were using to tie the two rides together, you know? After that there won't be any similarities in them at all.

Or maybe I'm completely wrong and it was Stengel just doing whatever... :/

if it doesn't have to do with SOB then what? another green house? theres no easy way for public to get back there so i dont know what they could build

top gun was open at haunt last year, they used Son of Beasts line up to top guns exit and theyn you cut over at the crosspoint after the big open area into top guns line.... im very positive

It doesn't need to be easily accessible to the public to mean there's construction.
