Without it, I wouldn't mind it at all. It begs the question, "Did they not notice they used boo twice? or did they think it was clever?" Either way, most of us feel they were wrong, and a simple poll on the official website would've saved them from that.

Honestly I love CF with a passion but they really are bad at naming pre-themed rides.....maybe that is why, it is a little hard to re-name a ride with a theme already in place, I mean if you build from scratch then you can build around the ride to fit the theme, but with the rides already in place it is a little harder I suppose

I hate ride's with the word ride in the name of it!!

Though the same can be said of all theme park operators, there should be a website dedicated to poorly-named Cedar Fair rides, and poorly-thought-out Cedar Fair slogans, and poorly-priced Cedar Fair food.

The highlights:

Diamondback: Your first ride may be your last!

Flight Deck

Beaver Land Mine Ride

Dominator

All Cedar Fair food.

You forgot Come and Smell The Funnel Cakes.

Cedar Point has some great food, as does Dorney Park. Cedar Point has delicious pizza back by Maverick, frozen custard, many love Midway Market...I had had delightful meals at the Boathouse...and Dorney has some excellent pizza and has in the past had excellent kosher food...while it was owned by Cedar Fair.

As time goes on, I notice a little more flaws but I sure do love CF........but they food at KI is not always made with quality..but this year we are so much more strict on the quality of the food and how its put together!!!!!!

I believe both Beaver Land Mine Ride and Dominator are great names.

Beaver Land Mine Ride: Calling it 'Beaver Land' is sort of like calling something 'Bear Country'. It hints to an uncharted wilderness abundant with streams, woodland critters, and beaver dams... And who doesn't enjoy a mine ride? wink.gif (Though it is, indeed, not a mine ride...)

I've always thought Dominator is a great name. It hints to some sort of enormous monster... that dominates, and really reminds me of Queen's 'News of the World'

Option 1: Sell it for $4 and make $2.50 per sale (I'm guessing here)

Option 2: Sell it for $2.50 and make $1 per sale

It all comes down to how many more or less you would sell at each price point. Many on here would argue that you'd sell enough more at the lower price point to justify. Others in CF HQ disagree.

Well most of the former Paramounts ride names are the same......what do ya expect??

Well I agree to an extent but I could say how much we make each day at my stand alone but that is against the Term's Of service and I also am not allowed to release financial status but let me tell ya that the way it is set up works just fine!!!

That's Mr. Kinzel's viewpoint on how the company works in general...it works just fine. Apollo, or whoever takes over next (it likely will not be them) will probably have other ideas. Funny, Disney, Universal, Busch...even Six Flags typically charges less for higher quality food than most Cedar Fair parks...

I do sometimes feel as we do cheat our guests but then again we bring alot of guests in, 4th most attended park, so yes prices have to be a little high.....yes true we could lower the price a bit but I don't make that decision yet!!

Would raising admission prices by a dollar or two not compensate for charging less for drinks?

Cedar Fair would get more money out of me by selling drinks for $2.50 (which I might actually buy) instead of leaving me to only consume the free ice water that the parks must give out.

I'll wait to give final judgment once I have ridden the ride, as should everyone, but my first impressions are:

- I am not a fan of the name

- Not a fan of having to wait so much longer to find out we're getting the same ride as the other parks that also received the re-theme

- This picture leaves me shaking my head, looks like they just 'whited-out' a Scooby reference...

- After looking at the pictures all I am really expecting is Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle, without the Scooby Doo (but once again I'll have to find out when I take a ride myself)

- Also, while 3D sounds cool; I, a) Hope it isn't extra charge & B) Wonder if that means we'll be seeing blurry objects if we decided not to ride with the 3D option (anyone who has ridden a ride with the choice between 2D & 3D care to give an educated guess?)

I know this is somewhat anti-climactic, but I am still actually somewhat excited to check this out to see what has changed, especially after what I've read from the reviews from Carowinds. We'll have to see come April 17th...

Well raising admissions would not entirely work because the majority of guests are pass holders and then we can't just take $3.50 and lower it to 2.50...too much of a risk....anyway more guests by food than you think!!

I'm nearly certain they aren't done painting that scene... they probably painted over the words (was it "Zoinks" there?) before they put a new coat of flat black on the wall. This will prevent the UV paint used on the old words to bleed thru the new flat black.

UV paint is cool stuff, but it can be difficult to work with when you're trying to "hide" it.

The "3-D" option is just like it is with a haunted house. it makes the flouresent paint under the blacklight stand out and pop. I rode it at Carowinds without glasses and it was just fine. You'll have to buy the glasses most likely, but you;ll have them forever then. at least until you rip them :P But no worries. if its anything like carowinds you will love it if you even remotely liked scooby. The Boo Blasters at carowinds was AMAZING compared to scooby... and i LOVED scooby!

I'm sure you're right, I probably jumped to conclusions on that one.

Thank you, that leaves me feeling a little more optimistic

Hi. It's sad knowing what's in the profits of SoftDrinks. It goes for all brands. As our family has a combined 78 years together with Coca-Cola, I remember being with my Dad plenty of times back in the 70's and early 80's at fairs, airshows and ballparks as he would have to service his route when they had events. He always told me that he was on the wrong side of the business and he should have opened a soda stand at these places. Back then, the cost for a 12oz wax Coke cup was about 0.02 or 0.03 cents and to fill it one time was about 0.04 or 0.05 cents. So about .07 cents a cup. Now, KI vendors use a variety of cup sizes. Let's say we'll use a 22oz disposable cup. I've learned that with todays cost of syrup at $40 dollars for a 5 gal box, not including the CO2 costs, could yield about 300 glasses at 5-1 mix ratio, filled with ice...

...total cost today???? $0.13 a glassohmy.gif !

Now, maybe people should just pack their lunch and have a nice picnic out in their car!cool.gif That's what we do!!! happy.gif

Who said parks MUST give out free ice water?

It's smart to do so...it's a safety thing, it helps with PR, but I know of no requirement that they must, and many, in fact, do NOT. I know of at least one park that doesn't even have a single working water fountain in the public area....

Separately, do not assume the park pays the soft drink company for the drinks...it may in fact be the other way around...

I believe with Coke it works both ways, they pay us, you can tell because of all the advertisement of the drink, and then we pay them from some of the profit!

Posted

I'd be shocked if any associate at Kings Island knows the true details of the Coke contract.

Very shocked.

Also Coke is a registered trademark. Don't get in trouble not capitalizing it. And if a guest asks for a Pepsi....

I don't know, but then again how would you know, someone who does not even work there?? lol.... Coke does pay us, to advertise and to up sell.....as do we pay from the profit!

You'd be surprised. Assumptions can cause all kinds of problems.

In the words of a Disney ride:

It's a small world, after all. . .

April 17, 2021, Kings Island - Man: "'Eh, remember that boo-boo back in 2010?"

Woman: "Ya, that was a pretty big boo-boo."

Man: "I can't believe it's turned into Scabby's Scab Blasters."

Who gives a crap date, Kings Island- Man: "Eh, remember that Boo ride back in 2010?"

Woman: "Yeah, closed-minded enthusiasts concentrated on a name instead of the ride."

Man: "I can't believe they would care about something that is rather meaningless. Let's go enjoy the park for what it is!"
