The Interpreter Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 ...Park employees will refill the Rivers of America, drained in January for maintenance, this week. The draining took almost a week, at the end of which this question was answered: What do you find at the bottom of an amusement park basin after seven years? The answer: a computer tower, hundreds of cellphones, countless pacifiers and half a canoe, said Disneyland Resort spokesman John McClintock. While it was empty, employees repainted, replaced and cleaned park features along the shore, basin and island. In the past, the drained water went into the ocean. To minimize the environmental impact this time, the park collaborated with the Orange County Water District and drained the water through a valve, purified it and added it to the county's reserve.... http://www.latimes.com/news/custom/topofthetimes/topstories/la-me-0505-disney-river-20100505,0,3773162.story Quote
ChazyG Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Huh Never knew the boat was on tracks. Very interesting. Quote
bkroz Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 It will be great to see Fantasmic return (I'm assuming it was not playing during this...) Especially since the new dragon only got in about a month before the waters were drained! Quote
flightoffear1996 Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 How in the world did a computer tower get in there? Quote
CoastersRZ Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Back when Carowinds still had a boat, it too ran on concrete tracks in the bottom of the lakebed. The boat was removed to make way for, at the time, Borg Assimilator. The ride is now known as Nighthawk. Quote
