Please bring back concerts like the old days. Back in the 80's they had concerts right and left. Big name concerts.

Unfortunately competition has gotten so much stronger than it was back in the 80's, and it's harder to book acts. When Riverbend opened, a lot of acts that used to play Timberwolf started going there. Jimmy Buffett is a prime example of this.

Since then, smaller venues such as Fraze Pavilion in Kettering, which opened in 1991, and PNC Pavilion at Riverbend, which opened last year, have further tightened the market. These two venues in particular are more competition than Riverbend's main pavilion, since they are more similar in capacity to Timberwolf and therefore would be in more direct competition for acts that would draw similar sized crowds. With more places trying to book acts, the more difficult it is.

Not to mention A LOT has to do with the media companies that own the radio stations and the promoters that book each venue. There is a lot of politics involved in booking acts to play various venues...

I know through the years Kings Island and the promoter(s) they use have worked hard to try to bring quality acts to Timberwolf.

Almost all the acts require venues with seating near 20,000 and to construct their stage featuring big video screens and allow them to put on their fancy shows. These groups charge admission prices that venues like Timberwolf can't charge. Timberwolf just can not afford to pay these acts to come. Now who wants to have big bands come to a venue that seats only 10,000? Think Madonna will come here and buy a ticket for $30? I last saw the Hollies back in the 80's and they put on a good show.

So who owns this stage? Kings Island? Great Wolf? Why doesn't the park use this stage for its own shows?

Being the stage has been there a lot longer than Great Wolf Lodge has been, I'd say Kings Island owns it.

KI still makes money from Timberwolf with Joyfest, Spirit Song, Sean Hannity, and Music in the Parks

There are a lot of acts that would play. A lot of bands making a comeback after 20 years would play I am sure.

The PNC Pavilion at Riverbend Music Center actually opened in 2008. It resided on land that Coney used to own, but donated to the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (who actually owns Riverbend Music Center). In fact, the Giant Slide used to reside next to the Dodgems on land that is now occupied by part of the PNC Pavilion. Why would Coney donate land to the pavilion? For those that have ever been to a concert at Riverbend or PNC Pavilion, you likely parked in one of Coney`s parking lots. Part of the service fee you pay on your concert ticket is actually a parking fee that is directed to Coney. Just another little known fact. And PNC Pavilion was built to attract the groups that like to play in the smaller, more intimate venues.

I have only been to two concerts; Oakridge Boys with my mom when I was 9 and Weird Al 7 years ago.

I saw Weird Al there back in the late 80s. Great show and nice venue for a concert.
