The parks that run trams (Hershey, Busch, Herschend, Disney) have parking that’s a good hike from the entrance.    It keeps people in the park for the day more, which could increase in park spending and offset some of the cost of the trams. 
 

The Taft parks were designed with parking right on to the entrance
