Closed SFKK has another attraction removed

Recommended Posts

I was driving by SFKK and it seems that the skycoaster has now been removed from (closed) SFKK.

I am not sure if the park owned the attraction. It's quite possible an outside vendor owned it and leased the land for a cut of the profits (upcharge.) However from what I could tell passing by on the interstate, it looks to be gone.

I`m not sure if there is any truth to this, but Screamscape reported that Skycoaster (the manufacturer), may actually not sell their rides to the parks, but instead lease them to the parks. I`m not sure if there is any truth to that business arrangement, but if there is truth to it, it would logically make sense that they would want their hardware removed. It appears as if Six Flags did lease the one at Kentucky Kingdom. Anyone know if other parks lease their skycoasters or actually own them?

Back in the early days at Coney, many of the rides (including the coasters) were operated as concessions. An outside vendor would have a ride that they would build on park property. The park would received a fee from the concessionaire and also receive a cut of the profits.

This may be the case, that it was leased to SFKK, but GL's SkyCoaster is still standing, and was auctioned along with the rest of the park back in '07.

Don't worry, he'll go back now, edit it, and new users will never be the wiser...

I, too could predict the future with precision if I can go back then and rewrite the past.

LOL! I thought I was the only one that noticed his ability to correct the past!

It seems as though the (former) Paramount Parks eventually purchased their Skycoasters as well. If memory serves me, the one at Ki was leased for sometime. However I seem to recall being told the park eventually bought it. Not positive.
