pcc
So I see this on KI's facebook page: New UC head football coach Butch Jones and the defending BIG EAST Conference champions make their annual trek to Kings Island for a “Meet the Team Day” Sunday, August 22. Beginning at 12:45pm, the team will walk down International Street and take part in a program on the bandstand near the Eiffel Tower. Following the program, the student-athletes will take part in a meet-and-greet and autograph session until 3:00pm. I'm curious as to how this will affect attendance at the park? We are going this weekend. We thought a random weekend would be less crowded, now I see this and wonder. This will be our kids last trip of the season and I'd love for them to be there when it's not crowded (Every time we take them, something pops up special in the park and it's hour long or more waits. When we go alone, everything is walk on. Go figure) So, since I've never been at the park during this event, how's it gonna be?
LongliveKingsCobra
I am sure it might draw a crowd, but nothing substancial like Spirt Song...
pcc
As much as I'd love to attend Spirit Song, I avoid that week at all costs lol. Now, if this were UK visiting, I would be decked out in blue and white with several cameras handy hehehhe
markr
Sundays are usually not that busy from my past experience. Last Thursday was Cincinnati Reds Day and it wasn't busy at all at least in the evening. Even if you do come on what appears to be a crowded day, I encourage you to ride the rides even if they appear to have long lines-as I said on my previous threads, the stated waits are usually overstated or exaggerated by other park guests. And if you are going to travel the distance, which is better, to wait in lines and ride or just walk around the park and ride nothing? The Interpreter
Either can be a great deal of fun, at least for me!
pcc
We will be there late Friday, all day Saturday and part of Sunday. Sunday is when one of my friends is joining us for the first time. As for us, we visit enough that just being there is fine now. Or maybe we are just getting old lol. That being said, I do want to get my DB ride count to 50 before the weekend is over. We'll have a great time regardless, I just want to be prepared if it's going to be busy. We've been there for opening day, closing day, Haunt the weekend before Halloween, Memorial Day, Labor Day and everything in between. I've waited 2 hours on one ride before and loved every minute of it I was just curious if UC fans are as crazy as us UK fans heheh.
The Interpreter
UC fans are seldom blue... Terp, who just HAD to... And who hopes he didn't make you see red... Yes, indeed, that's what he said.

Ah Dr. Terp has graced the thread with a sonnet of sorts Nothin' is better than a rhyme about sports.

jrstacy98
There are some rules you can generally follow for a big park like KI, Saturdays in the Summer will be crowded. Rainy mornings will lead to smaller crowds, etc. However, there are other things you'll never know unless you are there, we went to KI on August 8 in the morning (Sunday), I didn't expect it to be too busy, it was crowded with tons of people wearing union T-Shirts. This wasn't an "event" on the calendar, but it sure brought out lots of people - many more than I'd expect on a Sunday.
pcc
It was pretty bad today. Blue Cross and Blue Shield was there, along with several church/youth groups and the soccer team. Our shortest wait time was around an hour. We were soaked during the last rain, so we came back to the hotel. Going back after the duck event tonight. Hopefully the crowd will thin out some. Still having an awesome time though
