Labor Day weekend crowds

My family was hoping to make one more Kings Island trip this year and Labor Day weekend is the only possible option. I was wondering which day is historically the busiest? We were hoping to go on Friday but can go either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Any insight from the KI experts here would be greatly appreciated!

In the past, I have found that the busiest day on Labor Day weekend is Sunday. Believe it or not, Saturdays on holiday weekends at KI usually aren't that bad. Saturday of the 4th of July weekend was practically empty despite a gorgeous day. I think people like to do other things on holiday weekends, like picnics. This weekend a lot of people will be downtown at Riverfest.

Thanks for the info! Saturday looks to be a nice, not too hot day so that may be the winner. Wish we could go on actual Labor Day since I've heard that is a pretty empty day as well.

Remember Saturday is the Employee Reunion and the Cincinnati Tea Party movement is going to be at the park.

Political movement, in a theme park?

Yep...if the Democrats or the Republicans want to meet at the park, I am sure Mr. Kinzel would be happy to take their money. Heck, even a famous national talk show host comes for a charitable event each year...an event he started at Six Flags Great Adventure, by the way....

Ah yes the,"Sean Hannity Freedom concert", seems interesting...

For anyone interested in crowds at Coney, Sunday is usually the day to go. The day to avoid is Labor day, as that is the day of the AFL-CIO picnic. Fortunately, President Obama will not be visiting this year. That presented some logistical issues last year.

I will be avoiding the park this weekend-I have no interest in hearing any more political babble. Since the weather is going to be great, I will find something to do outside.

I just get tired of the mean-spiritedness of politics in general, especially where one side says you do not agree with me, therefore, you are not a good American. It seems like we just don't respect each other's differences of opinion anymore. To me people should come before politics. I would like to think I do practice this principal as I would say the majority of my friends have political opinions different from mine. ( If this is considered a political statement on this thread, sorry about that. Don't want any tempers to flair again. )

I'm with you! It's a topic I rarely discuss with anyone.

I actually find it sad that people can not have a legitimate discussion about certain issues (politics is but one) because of the "mean-spiritedness" that occurs. I believe that the way to solutions is through discourse - if we stifle the discussion, we will miss the solution.

Note this is not intended to say we should discuss it here - I want to abide by the TOS. I just believe that the avoidance of discussion is not a good thing in principle.

Thanks Terp! We are keeping an eye on the forecast. Morning showers is the forecast as of right now, so that may be a good thing. Might scare away some potential visitors, thus allowing me two additional rides on the Diamondback! We get our tickets from my workplace, and the way it works is you buy the ticket and you can use the ticket any day that KI is open. So if we get up Friday morning and it looks like rain all day we will just wait and go Saturday.

I appreciate all the replies. You guys have been very helpful and courteous to a newbie.

Actually, it seems to still be getting better than it was:

Friday

Mostly cloudy in the morning...then becoming partly sunny. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs around 80. West winds 15 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.

Friday Night

Partly cloudy in the evening...then becoming mostly clear. Less muggy with lows in the lower 50s. West winds 15 to 20 mph...diminishing to around 10 mph after midnight.

No it isn't, but it can get quite hostile in my family so I prefer not to go there-especially down in southeastern KY

Well we ended up going today....and it was PERFECT!! About 75 degrees with no humidity and the place looked deserted! I walked onto The Beast, Vortex, Flight of Fear, Invertigo, and basically all the non-coaster rides. My wife and daughter rode the Adventure Express 7 times, bringing their AE ride total for the year up to 40.

Thanks again for all the suggestions, and a special thanks to Terpy for keeping an eye on the forecast for me!
